I didn't ask what the boat sold for...just glad my nice neighbor stepped up to keep it from deteriorating any further.

Rattlesnake Gal 10-19-2011 02:57 PM

Fabulous!

Fargo, thanks for spreading this wonderful news!!! I'm smiling so big that there are tears of happiness leaking out of my eyes.

I sure hope that the Little Mount will be able to stay on the lake and we'll be snapping pictures of her for years to come!

I also hope that the new owner will take our wonderful Forum friends up on their offers to help restore this lovely lady. You guys are the best!

Please ask your neighbor and any helpers to take lots of pictures during the rehabilitation to post here for us. That way we all can come along for the restoration ride too. What a happy day. :D

Great news!!!

Thank you Fargo, I agree with RG this is the best news!!!

I have been thinking about alternatives for a while now, went to take a look at her last spring with Misty Blue, and have been very worried that the LIttle Mount would end up as scrap and I would have a guilty conscience about it forever. Please thank your neighbor for making it happen, and of course I'm ready and willing to help with the restoration. And if they ever need a spot to moor her, I happen to know someone with a 100' long deep water dock on Pine Island

cheers! -PIG

The ink is just barely dry on the purchase and sale of the Mini and PIG has stepped up with an offer for a dock! I feel we're making progress. Still searching for winter storage.

Actually it is an offer for a mooring. :D PIG is awesome. Misty Blue too. She would look amazing moored off Pine Island and it the cruisers on the Mount would really get a kick out of it.

NHBUOY may have a very good idea of looking for a business that has an empty building that would give them publicity from the human interest angle. One of the local marinas perhaps? Getting pictures of their facility, publicity and name recognition is priceless.

I saw this boat less than 2 weeks ago..she's definately needs a little work...hope she does indeed find a good home!!!!!

tis 10-20-2011 02:35 PM

I sure hope to see her on the lake again!

Fargo 10-20-2011 10:04 PM

We checked out the hanger at Laconia Airport...as suspected they only allow airplane related items to be stored there. Maybe we could make the Mini an aircraft carrier.

Things are fixi'n to change at Laconia Airport at any time now!.. I would also be in favor of granting The Mini Mount a special home there for refurbishing, or maybe a joint NH Air Force Naval operation.

I think that her presents would add much to the LAA's vocabulary, ( besides, just NO )!

How about one of the barn on the Sandwich Fairgrounds? I Believe they have offered boat storage in the past...

LIforrelaxin 10-21-2011 08:39 AM

Fargo,

Did you try and talk to anyone at the Multonborough Airport?

The other thing to do is to look around for Vacant warehouse space and find out who owns the building and talk to them... You may find someone that has a vacant warehouse, and for the sake of having the space used my offer a good deal for the winter.... especially if they are a fan of the mini mount...

Fargo 10-21-2011 11:41 AM

I contacted Moultonborough airport, since they are privately owned they can store anything. Right now their hangers are full with planes. We have lots of feelers out, Roche Realty is on the hunt for us also.

Paugus Bay Resident 10-21-2011 12:28 PM

How about checking with Irwins? They had the boat stored there for a while and have a lot of storage buildings. Nice publicity angle and tie to their history? Jack might be interested.

Fargo 10-21-2011 05:02 PM

I'd like to give HK Powersports a shout out, they were good enough to offer outside storage. Still searching for something inside.

jrc 10-21-2011 06:26 PM

just shrink wrap it

Fargo 10-21-2011 06:43 PM

Do any forum members sell or have access to temporary fabric structures? Needs to be 13ft high and 60ft long. We'd be happy to purchase it.

NoBozo 10-21-2011 06:50 PM

Shrink Wrap

Shrink Wrapping is a Killer for any boat you want to keep "healthy". In spite of the "Vents" offered (At extra cost each..) to ventilate the boat.

The problem is the boat doesn't breathe. It's like a greenhouse. It warms up in the daytime when winter sunlight is available. At night the atmosphere inside.. cools down and condensation forms on every surface in the boat. Repeat cycle every day... ALL winter. It's your boat..:look:

Canvas is a much better alternative... and it breathes. BTW: Canvas can be used over and over every year. Shrink Wrap is ONE Time only. Price it. Just sayin...:) NB

Winter storage

You can try Trexlers. I believe that they have a large open showroom. I do not know anyone there but you could try?

Fargo 10-22-2011 02:28 PM

Dave and Kate at Dave's Motorboat Shoppe in Gilford have offered outside space if nothing else comes up real quick. Thanks for the support!

Trexlers showroom might present some challenges, from the aspect of getting the vessel in and out... They also I believe use the showroom in the winter for storage.... however as mentioned it never hurts to try...

Fargo 10-25-2011 07:00 AM

We need to find storage where it could stay for a while and not have to move it again come spring time.

dragonfly03246 10-25-2011 07:12 AM

NHMS for Storage

I would call the track in Loudon and see if they have room in the garage area. I know the garages are large and they offer winter storage for other things, maybe they will help with the mini. :D

AkwaMarina 10-25-2011 03:20 PM

Boat Slip

I am very happy to hear that someone is taking on the project. We would like to help, We do not have a storage building but we can help out with a large dock in the summer, if they are looking for one.
Kurt

Fargo 10-25-2011 05:51 PM

Kurt, thank you very much for your offer, we will keep you all informed on our progress. Miles Marine will be moving Little Mount to Dave's Motorboat Shoppe in Gilford on Friday for winter storage.

Fargo 10-28-2011 02:58 PM

Miles Marine moved the Little Mount to Dave's Motorboat Shoppe in Gilford this morning. Things went as planned. The new fabric structure should be arriving in three weeks so the boat will be covered for the winter.

Fargo 10-29-2011 07:01 AM

The Laconia Daily Sun ran a story today about yesterday's move of the Mini Mount to Dave's Motorboat Shoppe. Thank you LDS for keeping the dream alive!

Good to see...

...someone rescued this beautiful boat! We stopped by our boat today and there it was ...right next to or boat ! It was pretty neat seeing it up close!

Fargo 10-30-2011 01:52 PM

Good thing the Mini is pretty weathertight because we didn't get it covered before last night's storm. Appears to be holding up well. Just need to bail out some water before it gets much colder.

Fargo 11-01-2011 05:33 PM

Trivia

Here's a bit of trivia I learned today. Jack Miller built the Mini but did you know his wife collected all the Barbie passengers at flee markets while in Florida. She also sewed all their outfits.

Fargo 11-03-2011 06:31 PM

Volunteers

We are waiting for the temporary fabric shelter to arrive. Looking for a few volunteers to help us erect it in about three weeks. If you can help us please give my neighbor Doug a call at 603-387-8625. I'll buy coffee, maybe lunch depending how the shelter looks once it's up.

robmac 11-05-2011 08:52 AM

Count me in,just post the date.

posas 11-07-2011 05:40 PM

thank you Fargo

Want to thank Fargo for his tremendous help finding the Little "Minni Mount" a temporary shelter. Getting her protected from the elements is the first order of business !

Fargo 11-08-2011 08:26 AM

I can't take much credit here on the Mini's progress, Doug who actually owns the boat has been on the hunt making things happen. He's the hammer, I'm the yammer. Hope to have more yammer later in the week.

LIforrelaxin 11-09-2011 12:10 PM

Fargo,

What is Doug's Plan moving forward with the Mini Mount.... I assume not much will happen during the winter, but I could be wrong if the shelter is big enough to have room to start some work....

I assume that this point, a full inspection of the mechanical is in order. As well as a start on the rehab of the entire vessel.....

Depending on what work is needed, I am willing to lend a hand if one is needed. This is such a gem for the area, that restoration is worth the time, to get it gliding back across the lake again.

posas 11-09-2011 04:05 PM

Probably right that not much will get done this winter. Have been cleaning, scraping, organizing etc, blessed by nice weather. Shelter appears to be about ten days out, with that up and boat in we'll both rest for a while. Next year will begin exterior refurbushing, don't know as i am the one to get her back on the lake but will do my best to ensure her safekeeping.

Mini Decal

1 Attachment(s)
I just had Gator Signs in Gilford make up 50 Mini Mount decals that depict the flag painted on the Mini's smoke stack. They are 4"x5". If you'd like a free decal to show your support for the Mini just send me a private message with your address. Your enthusiasm is what will float the Mini again one day!

AC2717 11-10-2011 08:45 PM

what a great idea Fargo
