What receipts are needed for gas tax rebates

I have never filed for the gas tax rebates. What receipts are needed. For instance, can I buy gas at a land based gas station in 5 gallon cans and put it in my boat and use the printed receipt from the pump or must I have a receipt from a marina on the lake?

You need a receipt that shows your name, # of gallons of fuel purchased, and price (per gallon).

You can find the refund form with all the details via www.bizer.com - road refund tax selection on the left-hand side of the page.

I think the marina normally writes the bow number on the receipt as well. If you have multiple boats you are supposed to keep the totals separate although I don't quite know why.

I submit my gas receipts every year to the state of NH. I buy the majority of my gas at local stations. I send in the receipts that come out of the gas tanks. I write my name on the slips. I get the form online from http://www.nh.gov/safety/admininstra...oll/index.html This year I sent the information in even a few days after the deadline and I didn't have a problem. I made a few mistakes and they sent everything back to me stating what had to be corrected. Once I returned the information corrected I received a check.

When I type the website it isn't printing it correctly. Google the State of NH- Dept. of Safety- Road Toll Bureau and you will find it.

NHSkier's post stating Bizer.com has the gas tax refund form is correct but their form is outdated (theirs is dated 1/2007 while the current form is dated 10/2008). And as Green's Basin Girl mentioned, her link isn't working (Page Not Found).

Here's the link to the Road Toll Refund Application for OHRV's, snowmobiles and boats, http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/a...ents/RT123.pdf. I too buy the majority of my fuel on the road (I trailer my boat) and just write my name and bow number on each receipt when I send them in. Make sure you send in the ORIGINAL receipts; they don't want copies (make photocopies for your records).

I don't bother to do that anymore, but I did years ago. I still should. One thing I remember is to have all the details on every slip, like address etc. Otherwise they do send them back to you.

Lakeport Landing does all of the paper work for you, and their gas prices are lower than most others around the Lake. $2.99, last I checked.

I myself have never bothered with this it all depends on how much gas you put into the boat and where you buy it. I buy my gas at the gas station on the road. So I don't pay the Marina Mark up.... This saves $$$$ after that because I don't own a big enough boat that drinks enough gas the amount of refund I get is $ so I just can't be bothered.... now if I get a bigger boat that drinks more gas and I have to start getting gas on the water the refund will be $$$$ and I will worry about this.....

A Little Help?

Would like to give this a try.

Pulled up the form but can see where this may be filled out incorrectly.

Anyone have a successfully submitted copy to share to help prevent a kick-back from the state?

Make sure your name is on each slip. Also highlight the number of gallons and the total sale amount. Make sure you put the total gallons purchased on the form and be sure to put your REG#/SERIAL# under column 4. Don't forget to attach your slips.

As long as you have ALL the "boat informatino on the receipt, I would bet that you could "write off" a few truck write offs too. FILL IT TO THE GILLS and you can write it off "if you write the required info on the receipt". Man OH man What a great idea.

I need to buy a boat and claim the gas it, for a rebate.

HOW COOL is this??????????????
Just grab a bow number.

95% 0f the time I get my gas at a gas station on land. I always send those receipts into the state and I receive my rebate.

(This is also posted in the "NH Road Toll Refund Change" thread.)

If anyone hasn't completed their form yet, I've taken the state's form and created fields on it so you can fill it in on your PC, then print it off and sign it. A link to the state's blank form can be found in this post. If anyone's interested in using my modified form, let me know and I can send it to you. All you need to use this form is Adobe Reader which is free from Adobe. NO PART OF THE STATE'S FORM HAS BEEN REMOVED OR ALTERED, ALL I DID WAS ADD FORM FIELDS TO SIMPLIFY COMPLETION OF THEIR FORM.

Additional notes about my modified form; I did not create fields for the Stock Record section at the bottom of page 2. Also, I only created fields for the first 5 lines in the table at the top of page 2. Columns 5 and 6 on this table automatically total on line 17. There is a "Print" button at the top left of page 1 that will open your print dialogue box to print the document. There is also a "Reset" button beneath it that will clear all text, numbers, dates, checks, etc. from all of the fields.

If anyone needs more fields in the top table or the Stock Record section, I might be persuaded to add these fields if there's enough interest.

Can't wait to do it again next year.

An 18 cent New Hampshire highway tax levied on each gallon of gasoline at 350 gal. this summer is 63 bucks. That's over half my registration for next year. Better then nothing.
