Great vacation

Not sure if this should be here or in restaurants...but here goes...I just got back from a great vacation up there. One highlight of the trip was I got to meet, in person, Rattlesnake Gal and Guy (and Mac of kayaking fame!). They invited my husband and me out to the island, gave us a boat tour, delicious lunch and a wonderful day that went by too fast! What delightful people they are..of course you all know this! I have now met--in person--two of my three Forum Friends...not bad for someone living 1250 miles away. Maybe next time I'll meet Pineedles, too! I'm hoping so.

Went on the Mount--of course!!--and met Capt. Paul. Looked for Weirs Beach Boater, but he must have been off that day. Love the Mount--it never disappoints.

Ah, and the food! Total immersion Sawyer's, naturally; but also we went to the Lyon's Den. Everything I have read on the Forum is true....VERY nice! I had baked stuffed shrimp; my husband had fried clams,--a real New England treat we don't get down here. He said the clams tasted like we used to get WAY back in the 50's...outstanding. We also went to a new (to us) sandwich place down on Rte. 3 in Tilton--The Meltaway. It is across from Smoke & Barley. Sure is worth a try...sandwiches on homemade bread with a difference. I had roast beef with boursin cheese--delicious.

Now we're back in the land of 95 degrees and I am on calorie lockdown...but had a great time. It always goes by too fast. Enjoy it for me, all of you who are still up there!

Sorry I missed You

Hi J,
I'll use an abbreviation of your name, if that's OK, and I am sorry "our time at the lake" didn't coincide. Perhaps another year? Glad to hear you had a good time with C and her hubby. More folks might find more to agree on than disagree, if they met face to face.

I arrived on Wednesday afternoon and despite the initial weather I am looking forward to a nice weekend and a relaxing 2 weeks. Purchased my annual non-resident hunting and fishing license and have already had a delicious bass breakfast.

All my best,

Pineedles (J):)

Two days...we were close!

Well, we didn't miss it by much, J...but there is always another year! Our weather was not always the best, but we got by...hope yours is perfect. I do agree...meeting the "R-G's" was a delight...and we do agree on plenty! It makes you realize how nice the Forum Fests must be. Wish I'd make one of those some time...that has got to be fun! Take care, keep in touch and enjoy the lake! As my name proclaims: "in Dixie, but have Winni in my heart"!

Great Fun Meeting Another Forum Member!

Paul and I also had a wonderful time with our first meeting and visit with WinnDixie and Mr WinnDixie - Good people! (You knew that already from WinnDixie's posts.)

We met them at our mainland dock at 10:00 am and the next thing we knew it was after 5:00 pm! Time flying = enjoyable time. :D We sure got lucky with the weather!

Looking forward to your next trip to the lake. Thanks for coming! Glad your whole trip was fun.

With love and a great big hug!

Celia

PS: Many thanks to Winnipesaukee.com! We have made so many nice friends through the Forum! :D
