Inaugural 10K Road Race - Laconia, NH
I want to invite all of you runners out there to consider taking part in this year's 10K road race to be held as part of WOW Fest 2010. This event is a fund raiser for the WOW Trail.
I am Race Director for the 10K, a race that takes you on the popular Lake Opechee 10K running route (course is NH certified) and includes the newly completed WOW Trail from Lakeport to downtown. The event is Sept 18 and the race is at 9 am. We are awarding first, second and third place prizes (male and female) for FIRST TIME racers. There is also the WOW Cup awarded to the fastest team (top three runners). You get a tech t-shirt and entry to the BBQ and festival for the remainder of the day. You may register on-line at http://www.active.com/running/laconi...w-fest-10-2010 More info about WOW Fest is here: http://wowtrail.com/ Thanks, Kevin |
Sounds like a fun course. I basically have ran it in reverse including Shore Drive/Lexington and eliminating side streets off Elm.
Thanks for the info:) |
Would be a nice run if it wasn't for WOW.

10K a Success.
We had 96 registered runners for the Take Opechee 10k Road Race this past Saturday. A great turnout for an inaugural race in the Lakes Region.

Pretty good turnout
Considering the annual 'Reach the Beach' relay was on at the same time.
This weekend is the annual 'Winni Relay'. I am hosting two women teams from the Goffstown Y. They will be wearing T-shirts bearing 'Determined Divas'. I will be wearing a T that says: "Determined Divas Cheering Squad'. :D |
BroadHopper,
I've run RTB and had a blast. I've not yet run the Fred Brown, was planning to put together a team for this year but passed on it as it is a week before my next marathon (Portland, Maine). Maybe next year. The legs of this relay are not easy. |
Fred Brown Race
The legs are not easy. A few 'Heartbreak Hills'. The most noticeable is the road from Alton Bay to 28. Its an exciting race. Be sure to cheer on the runners. They are a dedicated bunch.

Fred Brown Race 2011
Two weeks ago, the 23rd annual Fred Brown race was another astounding success. It was move because of the RTB and Nascar weekend.
This year there were a number of folks traveling in cars that had a bit of a road rage about running along the 28 corridor before hitting Wolfeboro and the 109 route in Moultonboro. As much as the event coordinator tries to use the roads less traveled by, it is nearly impossible. One gentleman was screaming at the racers that there are tracks for runners and we shouldn't be 'hogging' the roads. Just like there is an ocean for the GFBL boats on the lake. Seems like there are folks out there that don't like folks enjoying their times around the lake. I beg to differ. The welcome mat is out for all to enjoy. |
As a runner and, now, a biker, I confront road rage almost everyday. I can never understand why drivers, especially so early in the AM, start their day by being so angry. I've had people turn around get out of their cars and threaten me.
Guess what, car drivers of the world? You will win every argument with a runner or a bike rider, but do you have to? Drive every day as if there is a police car behind you...how different would your driving be? |
