Properties Added To State Historic Register

WMUR

CONCORD, N.H. -- Three New Hampshire properties, including the Manchester park where Revolutionary War General John Stark is buried, have been added to the state's register of historic places.

Stark Park, the Chichester Grange Hall and the Kona Farm in Moultonboro join approximately 220 properties officially recognized by the state as historic places.

Stark Park opened in 1893 and was one of Manchester's first public parks. The Chichester Grange Hall was built in 1889 by Grange members and continues to be a town gathering spot. The 120-acre Kona Farm, home to the Kona Mansion Inn, was part of a program promoting the sale of abandoned farms for summer estates in the late 1800s.

The New Hampshire Division of Historical Resources sent notices to the property owners Tuesday.

Swallow Boathouse

Saw the article in the Citizen about the Kona farm being on the register. Wow, that's an impressive boathouse! Somehow I never did see that when I lived there...or else I didn't pay enough attention, as I have been to Geneva Point many times! That's very nice...think I'll have to make a trip next year to have a look.
