Motorcycle Tire Mount

Didn't know where else to put this thread, so I'm wondering if any members know of a good dealership or shop that will mount and balance a new set of tires on my motorcycle? I just called HK powersports and they quoted me at 1.5 hours for the rear tire alone and $80 an hour. Any other suggestions? For reference, it's a Yamaha motorcycle.

That price seems pretty reasonable to me. Not sure of any dealer who would do it cheaper...

Stan's Tire Barn up in North Woodstock, or Littleton Motorsports, www.littletonmotorsports.com, up north in Littleton, NH.?

Absolutely not considering I called Barton's in Tamworth and they said $25 for the mount and $25 for the balancing. I think that's where I'll end up this weekend. I'm still open to suggestions.

If it's a Touring motorcycle with Saddlebags and Bodywork it WILL be expensive because all that stuff has to come off to get to the wheel.......particularly the REAR. As we used to say; "It's all part of the sport". :D Nb

I used to save money by taking the wheels off the bike and bringing them in to the shop. I can understand mounting a modern tubeless tire is tricky, but there is usually no need to pay a mechnic to remove the wheels.

What kind of bike would help.

There is a bike shop right next to the overhead door place in Meredith.

Mikes performance on RT104 down by the 104 Diner.

Thought I clarified that in the first post, but missed a slight detail. Yamaha R6

Rhoads Motorsports on rte. 106 in Loudon (www.rhoadsmotorsportsinc.com) mounted and balanced my new tires on my 2001 FZ1 for $50.00 each. Bob's a good guy and charges $50.00 an hour labor. He did say that if I had purchased my tires through him, it would have $25.00 per tire. I rode the bike to his shop and waited while he did the work, after making an appointment. I could not resist buying tires at www.jakewilson.com. They have free shipping and I got an extra $20.00 off by using code "jw2009". "jw2010" may also work. The tires came in shrunk wrapped plastic. I got a set of Pilot Roads for about $190.00 shipped.

The place next to Overhead door options is Craig Finnerty Originals, CFO for short dont know his prices but he does do very good work.

WeirsBeachBoater 08-28-2010 02:10 PM

FYI, CFO only works on Harley and HD based bikes. Sticks to what he knows, and is good at it. He doesn't work on the Metric bikes at all. Try Laconia Motorbike Frank Bean Rd Laconia.

Craig Finnerty Originals, CFO 603-279-9059 Call him I am sure he will have not problem doing it. Even if its not a Harley

Um, IMO no. Not on any of the bikes that I have ever seen. What make/model are you talking about?

How about a Honda Gold Wing. They actually still make them and they are BIG. Many of the Touring Bikes..... used for Touring , which is actually Traveling across country..even overnight... for multiple nights..:) We actually used to do that rather than just riding down to the boulevard and Profiling. ie....How do I look..? :D

The people that used to ride them (Me) are getting too old to hold up an 800 pound motorcycle at a traffic light. Tip it over and it takes three strong men to pick it up.

My longest Cross Country to the West Coast and beyond covered 11,500 miles in 5 weeks back in 1985. THIS..IS the way to see AMERICA :) NB

Laconia Motorbike behind the ice arena.

Peter is excellent to deal with which is more than many will say about HK.
His rates are very reasonable. He put a new back tire on my KLR650 this spring did the inspection and it was just over $200.00 and that included the $140 for the tire. Do the math.
Heck I'll bet I could replace a tire myself using what I have for tools in the garage and it would take me less than 1.5 hours.
