Boil water notice in Suissevale
Just so you know to boil any water you use for cooking in Suissevale. Apparently the bad water is here too....
Check your emails for a notice from the HOA.:( Here is what it says... Suissevale Members please be advised that there is a "BOIL WATER ORDER" in effect as of today Thursday October 21, 2010. Water smples taken yesterday came back with E.-coli. A state approved notice of this boil water order is being placed at each home in Suissevale. Please note that water samples are taken at least once a month and then analized at the State Labratory for water quality. The sample came back today Thursday October 21, 2010 with the E.-coli hit this triggers an immediate response from the State of NH that a boil water order be issued. This problem can occur due to a number of different circumstances, it may be what is known as a false positive, it can also happen when water lines are being worked on, etc. This past week we have been improving water lines and that is being looked at as a source for the problem. We are presently flushing lines and clorinating them. New samples are being taken today. State regulations require more then one sample be taken once a water quality issue arises. We will be sending notice through e-mail and web site as soon as we get the ok to lift boil water order from State. We appreciate your patience and will keep you informed of our progress. |

LRWC buys out these run down water utilities and then they don't have enough money or man power to fix them up. The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) needs to come up with some solution to this problem because LRWC can't seem to do it. |
Should've been a flyer in every door. Expecting it to be resolved in 72 hours.
|
Yeah. I called my neighbor who comes up from MA to let them know. They had a notice in their door. I did not. Well while spreading loam today I looked up to the deck and saw they put the notice in my BACK door. I never use my back door. (That doesn't sound right...) So I never got the notice until today. No idea why they didn't put it on my front door. Well anyway. I already brushed my teeth with the water. I"M GONNA DIE...I'M GONNA DIE! Argh!

I am curious to know if you are basing your statement on actual facts or mere conjecture. |

No, but I have talked to the board members of each community. Have you seen their financial records and do you know how many people they employ ? Yes I have seen their financial records. The Company has petitioned the PUC for permanet rate increases and also proposed temporary rates in the event that the Commission suspends the proposed permanent rate. In addition, the Company has proposed a step increase for the purchase of land, wells and other improvements in 2011. Therefore I have seen all of LRWC's financial records for the test year that they gave to the PUC. All of this information is available to the public via the PUC website. I do not know how many they employe because LRWC cntracts a member of the owners family to do all of the repair work. It's a little confusing so I won't get into it here. |
Thanks Lakesrider for the heads up on this. We'll check back and see if there are any updates. Oh, you've got somthing on your tooth there:liplick:lol

Bal-Moral got a boil order Friday also.
|
THE "BOIL WATER ORDER" IS STILL IN EFFECT AS OF TODAY SUNDAY 10/24/10 AND AT THE LEAST IS EXPECTED TO GO THROUGH MONDAY 10/25/10.
Suissevale Residents The State mandated "Boil Water Order" is still in effect and will be at least through this weekend. Please go to Boil Water Notice on front page of web site for specific instruction on what precautions residents should take when using water system. We were notified yesterday afternoon that the cause of the E.-Coli came from the Balmoral / Paradise Shores, Lakes Region Water Co. system and not from the Suissevale Developement. Balmoral /Paradise Shores was put on a "Boil Water Order" Late Yesterday 10/22/10. All of the Suissevale water comes from the Lakes Region Water Co. system at the Balmoral / Paradise Shores location. |
Damn those Bal-Moralans....:rolleye2::D

LRW rate increase
LRW has applied to the PUC for a significant rate increase. From what I understand, most rates will increase over 50%.
On one hand, I hate to reward them with higher rates when they perform so poorly in maintaining our systems and keeping our water safe. On the other hand, I want them to have sufficient funding in order to prevent these types of problems and to properly maintain these water systems. |

Maybe can send them my receipts for the bottled water I had to buy this week and have them take it off my increase.....
Seriously though. I always use bottled water for drinking water anyway. So it was only for the tooth brushing and rinsing. We went out and bought an under the counter water filter for the sink, and ice maker, just as a preventative thing. I am going to install it tonight. Gotta love it.:rolleye2: |

If it's true that they want to increase what you are paying for water by 50% then everyone at your community needs to get involved. IMHO anytime that a utility digs up their main supply line they should notify everyone to boil their water while this is going on. It is very easy to contaminate the water when they are being worked on. Good luck! :) |
Agreed. I plan to attend the next board meeting and hope to bring this up.
Boil notice is still in effect as of today....Makes me wonder just how contaminated it really was to begin with. Yikes.... |

Here is a very well written letter to the PUC from a resident of Paradise Shores:
“With all the problems we have recently had with our water, we now have ecoli in the water, and it may not be resolved for one or two weeks. Lakes Region was notified on October 21st at 1pm of the problem from the state. We as consumers were not notified until after 4pm on the 22nd. They sent out emails, called and attached notices to our doors. why is there not a system in place to notify consumers immediately? I would also like to know how often the water is tested by the state? I do not have a great deal of confidence in Lakes Region doing their own testing I have been told that they do their testing in a private home with an elaborate filtering system Most of us do not have filtering systems, and cannot afford them. I would think that the water should be tested in such a way that would give clear readings for all the consumers not just the ones with a filtering sytem I know of alot of people who got sick in May, but were only sick when we were in NH This may be a coincidence, but now I’m wondering about the test procedures. I would also like to know if we can deduct from our bills the expense we will incur in buying bottled water, boiling it, and traveling to get the water. I understand that problems happen with water, but I also think this is a water system that has not been maintained I hope that the Utility Commission steps in to review how often our water is tested and how it is being tested. I feel that Lakes Region has done very little to maintain the water system in Paradise Shores We had a summer of water bans, turn off for breaks in the system, etc. They are now asking for a rate increase even though our water rates are extremely high. My most recent bill seemed to be higher than normal, and most people I talked to agree that their bills were higher than they usually are I was also told that they came out twice to do the meter readings because there was a problem with them.” Anyone else that lives in Paradise Shores or Balmoral needs to write to the PUC just as the above person did. |
I live in Suissevale. I sent in a letter as well.
The ban was lifted last night. They drove by and left a notice in my door. At least it was the front door this time...:D 10 days. If you think I am using that water for at least 4 more days your nuts... I plan to flush my lines and turn my water sprinkler on for about 4 hours first.... Heck I have new grass seed to get growing....Before it snows. Good excuse to flush the lines....:D Oh and I kept all my bottled water receipts too!;) |
