weirs Beach drive in
I know I have posted before, but I can't say it enough. The Weirs beach drive in theatre is one of the best family fun activities (and bargains) in the lakes region. Took the family the other night. How can you beat it, a family of 5 (and the dog) for 2 first run movies (Transformers III & Super 8) in sleeping bags, no obstructed views and plenty of snacks in the van...all for $17.00.
I hope all of you will patronize the drive in so it continues its low prices and, for that matter, its existence. I have no idea how they make any money, but I know they will get $17/week from me for most of the summer. HCG BTW- did I mention that they let people in at around 7pm so you can get a spot and then walk out to the Weirs until the movie's start. |
Thanx..that is a great deal for an entertaining evening...appreciate the heads-up.

One of three left in NH. When they are gone, they really go.

Weirs Beach Drive-in
This thread brings back memories of many pleasant evenings spent here in the mid-sixties!!!
|
So So many great memories.
|
We went to the drive-in this week and enjoyed the movies and price but wish they would update the facilities (restrooms and snack area). The womens room had only one sink, numerous stalls that didn't lock, several toilets wouldn't flush, and the few that did work and lock were out of tp before second movie started! In addition the snack area was very rundown and there was no ice available (not sure if this is the norm or just a random occurance).
I love a good deal so we'll probably return but not without bringing some additional supplies!! |
I know #2 in Milford NH. Where is the 3rd?
|
I just checked Google and it appears it has been torn down since I last was up there and photographed it. It was on Rt 135 just south of Woodsville in the town of North Haverhill. Guess we are down to only 2 now. The Weirs and Milford.
|
The Northfield Drive-In, in Winchester, NH is still operational. My son was there last week. :)
|
Glad to hear the Northfield is still open. I heard they were auctioned off a few years ago.. Thanks for the update. Guess we are back to three.

Yuh,right...Barney Bear and Chubbs.....I don't think you had too many memories of the MOVIES because your windows were all steamed up !:laugh::laugh:
|
They said GREAT MEMORIES......they said nothing about the movies!
|
When we had our place at the Weirs, me and my Brother used to take the boat out in the chanel, and stop in front of Thurstons. Back then there was a clear view of one of the big screens...then we would find the audio on the radio... HAHA!
 |
The movie industry is requiring the drive-ins to switch to expensive digital equipment. Vote in Project drive-in to win the Weirs Beach drive-in a new digital projector at http://projectdrivein.com/vote_41. Vote daily now through Sept 21. You can vote daily - once online and once via text message.
I have no affiliation with the drive-in. I'm just sharing this in case anyone who is a fan has not yet heard of the contest to help drive-ins. Five projectors have already been awarded (including one in Saco, ME) and they have now extended the deadline for an additional 4 projectors. |
Still open?
Does the drive in have a website? Are they still open? We drove by during the day on Saturday and it looked like it was closed, maybe for the season? Couldnt find them online.....
|
It looks like the drive-in did not receive enough votes to be chosen for a new digital projector, and their website has been hacked. But here is a link to their FB page.
