Speaking Of Steamboats

I saw this boat at a distance yesterday underway on Narragansett Bay. It took me awile to identify it because I couldn't read the name from shore..even with binoculars. Had to do some Googling. :)

It's a 126' Steam yacht named Cangarda originally built around 1888. It has been completely restored. The original riveted steel hull was in poor condition and was scrapped, and a new welded steel hull built to replace it. Much of the cabin woodwork, deck houses, hardware, and interior appointments were saved.

The unique thing about this yacht is it still has the Original Sullivan triple expansion (3 cylinder) steam engine, in fine working order. Even the Dake anchor windless is steam powered.

There are only 3 of this type of steam yacht left in the world. Two of them in the US. :) :) NB
