Heating Oil additive?
Can anyone on forum tell me where I could purchase a heating oil additive called 'Hot Shot' ?
Product It is used to treat home heating oil, which is stored in extreme cold temperatures. My heating oil tank is stored in an outside shed, which then feeds into area where furnace is located. "Hot Shot", prevernts the heating oil from conjealing, which happens with deisel oil in freezing temps. In the past have purchased H.S. from oil dealer, but pricey ! Looking for a local retailer which sells this product. Have looked at Lowes, Home Depot, and Hardware stores, without success? Suggestions appreciated. Thanks, BD |
It's on Amazon.com, but I can't find it local...

People with diesel trucks also use this additive when the cold weather causes the fuel to gel in their lines to get it moving again. Try a good parts store that sell truck parts or at a truck stop.

I suggest contacting the manufacturer and see if you can by direct....

http://www.amazon.com/Power-Service-...642164&sr=8-22 I don't know how much the container of Hot Shot costs or how many gallons it treats but with the Power Service supplement you would have to "in theory" dump the whole 80 oz container into the 275 gallon tank. At almost $20 bucks a bottle that could get pretty expensive depending on how many gallons of fuel you would go through. On the other hand, it beats having your fuel congeal and your furnace go out. |

You might want to also ask whoever provides your heating oil. We have an outdoor oil tank and I know our oil provider sometimes adds something for us so you might be able to get it for free :)
