Christmas Tree Inn Gilford
Does anyone remember The Christmas Tree Inn in Gilford on Rte 11?
Robert, Susan, Buzzie, and Carol. They had some great dinner entree's. Veal Milange , Veal, Asparagus, Lobster and a white wine cream sauce ? OMG and the best Lobster Stew. Good times in the early 80's. |
Remember it well. Ate there on several occasions. Food was always top notch gourmet cuisine. Every time we drive by I make the comment " I hope someone saves this gem before it is too late ".

You started a great thread and we don't even know where you're from. Where on Rte 11 was it?

Gilford
It is midway between Lake Shore Park and Ellacoya Barn and Grille, just east of Ellacoya State Park and Lake shore Park. Heading toward Alton, it would be on your right as you get to the top of the hill by Lake Shore Park.

That was a really nice place. We went there a couple of times. Too bad it is in the shape it is now.

The best Beef Wellington
I always ordered the Beef Wellington - it was absolutely delicious! I think that was when Brendon Connelly owned it. Not many restaurants serve Beef Wellington anymore :(

Beef Wellington
I grew up down the street from the inn. I remember it well. The inn had several owners and there have been good and not so good food served.
As stated on Master Chef on the Food channael, Beef Wellington along with risotto and NE clam chowder are the most diificult food to prepare consistently. Very few establishments carry these products. As for clam chowder, I have yet to find a perfect clam chowder served in a commercial kitchen. Some of the best clam chowders were from fishermen homes along the coast of Maine and NH. Same with rsotto, the master chef says you cannot make a perfect risotto by steaming and or boiling. It must be saute in a skiilet. Very few people can do that. So much for watching the Food channel, I'm hungry! :) |
I remember that place as The Victorian House.
