Help needed for Information on Winni Islands

Our daughter is getting married 9/15 and the reception is going to be at the Pavilion in Lake Shore Park.

We decided that the table "Names" will be Winni Island names.. ( Governors, Rattlesnake, etc).

I've been researching looking for a resource that has historical information on the various island. I need to come up with about 18 Islands with a funny or interesting history that can be boiled down to a few sentences for the table cards.

I'm also looking for old photos of Islands, that I don't have to go crazy chasing down copyrights to use.

Any and all help appreciated.

Steve;

Here is a great condensed version of the history of Welch Island.

I'll see if I can find some pics for you.

Congrats on the wedding!

Some friends of ours did that 3-4 years ago, although the wedding was in Ct. It was great for those of us that attended who knew the lake. Others had no clue what it was all about. Their loss!

Coincidently I was seated at Mark Island... Not sure why?

You've got to include Becky's Garden!

Little tiny Hurricane Island? What lake would be complete without a hurricane?
Course maybe not best for a wedding. Who wants a hurricane marriage.

For that matter.... no one wants a Cow or Guernsey

(no offense to the inhabitants)

Now that is funny...!

But as far as getting any real help... not so much.
My long departed grandfather had a saying for some of you guys...:)

When I was a very little kid.. a very long time ago, :rolleye1:, I used to love to help him fix things around his house. He used to tell me.. "Stephen, you'd be a lot of help in a place were they didn't need any." I'd reply.. "Thank You Grampy!"

I was a teen ager before I realized he wasn't being complimentary!

But keep the ideas coming!
