Any comments on Cider Press
I went to the Cider Press a few weeks ago, Food was ok nothing to write home about. I was just asking because it seems like a nice BUT very dark resturant. And I left, still hungry.

good...but...
We like the Cider Press and have been going there since the mid 80's. The menu has essentially remained the same, except for price changes, over all the years.
Reason for this is the wife is a waitress, and the husband is the only cook in the kitchen. He is understandably comfortable with the menu and what it takes to get the food out. I like the Steak Au Poivre, the Filet Mignon, the Seafood casserole, and the Lobster Bisque. Carrot cake for dessert. Never went home stuffed, but can't remember being hungry when I left, making me thing about going to McD's on the way home. (Did that once after a $160 meal at a "gourmet restaurant" years ago ) Other items were good, but these are my favorites. Interior decor hasn't changed much if any in those years. We personally have no problem with it. I would much rather be in their setting than in a brightly lit restaurant where the lighting almost makes you feel like you are spot lit. Can I recommend it? Yes. And my understanding is that this is going to be their last year. Now that all kids are out of school, they are ready to retire. Good luck, Denise and Bob. |
May 3rd began our 31 st year. This year new web page, a little landscaping, and a NEW menu. This year is not our last year & we don't see retirement in the immediate future ...closing for the winter suits us just fine for another year or two. I'd like to address not getting enough to eat...for heaven sakes when seated cheese & crackers on the table, all entrees include a nice fresh cold garden salad with warm bread, choice of starch, vegetable du jour with the entree, all included in the entree price which range between $17 and 24. Can't say that for alot of restaurants where you pay another $6 bucks for a salad~for your buck I think we're a good value.:)

Thanks McDude
I've always thought about stopping but never have. It looks inviting. I'm going to make it a point to get there next year!

We went there Friday night with another couple and had a very good experience. I'd rate both the food and service a B+. I thought the prices were reasonable. I would recommend it to anyone.

Cider Press
Mrs. Nightrider and I have frequented the Cider Press many times. Never been disappointed. Always plenty to eat.

The Cider Press is a great restaurant run by a hard working couple.
|
very cozy and warm
We stopped in one Saturday and had a great meal... 4 of us
we all had lots to eat and it was very good... wine was good and the atmosphere was very warm and inviting... good service too. Love the rustic feel |
Where is the Cider Press?
|
In Wolfeboro, just south of Weston Auto Body on the left. That's on the smaller road to Middleton.
|
I went a few years ago and stood there at the door. No one acknowledged us. Just like at the Back Bay. It seems they close at 8pm and we walked in at 5 past 8. It would have been nice if one of the waitresses that walked by would have told us......Been back though, last year with some friends from Wolfeboro and it was OK. Have not been back. Too many other places to dine.

Cidar Press
The Cidar Press is one of the secret places in Wolfeboro. The food is excellent and consistant. The baked stuffed Halabut is a speciality. They changed the Menu this year and took off the lamb chop. That is a major lose. The atmosphere is homely New England. I often take out of town friends there.

FYI only. I drove by this morning and the partitions for the parking area had been removed. This is usually an indication that they have closed for the season.
|
The "See you in the Spring" sign is down, and there is a sparkling new restaurant sign out front. Does anyone know if they are open for the season?
|
Looks like they are open now...
From their Facebook page:
We're back!!!!!! Opening night Thursday April 25th. Spring Hours will be Wednesday through Sunday ~ closed Mondays and Tuesdays until Memorial Day weekend and then we'll move to our 6 night schedule open every night but Monday. |
Thanks Upthesaukee. They should also update their main webpage. I had checked that before posting but there was no indication there...
