Johnson's Cove: Biggest Trees Now Cut
A Wolfeboro friend advises that a deep major deforesting has been taking place -- high on "Johnson's Cove" slopes.
Loggers are reportedly bulldozing in from Forest :rolleye1: Road. Is this the beginning of The End? |
Even with the constant development, I beleive the state has more forest now than it did at the height of farming.I too am not a fan of constant clearing of lands but the forests eventually can reclaim it's ground. The difference is trying to displace the people that will inhabit the clearings now. However,I do not think that the sky is falling. It's happening everywhere.
I determined this morning that Brickyard Mountain is now the Lakes Regions biggest eyesore. |
What's going on over at Johnson's Cove? Are they logging or getting ready for a new development?

The portion of the shoreline of Johnson's Cove from the area directly across Forest Rd. from Parker Island Rd. towards Wolfeboro airport has been thinned. The owner of the former Lakes Region Airpark (aka, Wolfeboro Airport) has purchased the parcel containing approx. 30 acres and 2400' of Winnipesaukee frontage (not exact figures, but close). According to airport management, it's highly unlikely that the airport will re-open in the spring.

Dots...too many dots...
1) The Airport (100+ acres)will not "reopen"...
2) Johnson's Cove (±30 acres) abuts the Airport... 3) Trees are "being thinned" there... 4) Johnson's Cove is a popular location for rafters... 5) A new bill addresses limiting rafters...http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/...2801#post12801  Can somebody familiar with Winnipesaukee politics connect those dots for me? . . . .. . . .. . |
Could be...
Do you think this could be the handy-work of the LRCT trying to protect the Lake from developers?
We know how passionate they are about their cause and their desire for privacy in tranactions (Castle in the Clouds)... |
