Winnipesaukee Wedding
Any and all suggestions welcome...
Winnipesaukee-area wedding. Lakefront optional. Bring on the ideas, please. Thank you! |
Have you checked out The Castle in the Clouds? Beautiful up there, and the Carriage House would be an interesting location for the reception.
|
A Destination Wedding....
A little unusual, but we do host weddings, spring and fall, with limited dates available, at Sandy Island Camp. We just had the third one of this year, this past weekend. Options vary, but often the majority of the guests come on island on Friday, and spend the weekend, with additional boat shuttles for those who are just coming for the wedding day. Our chapel looks out over the Broads, with a nice sunset view, or our lodge can also be used.
I can give you the contact info for our director, in a PM, if you'd like. She also can talk with you about the option at our Todaro center at the North Woods/Pleasant Valley camp in Tuftonboro. |

went to one at castle in the clouds last Friday, was great, but food, which is catered by Hart's and they are exclusive for the Castle, was a not the greatest
|
Depending on when it's going to be, how about the Swallow Boat House @ Windward Harbor, Moultonborough. Beautiful for a summer wedding.
|
We had a fundraiser at the Lodge at Gunstock Mountain this weekend. They were wonderful to work with.
|
I have been to a couple weddings at the Margate they seem to do a good job.
|
I thought I remembered reading here about someplace that might be a bit "rustic?"
|
If the wedding is going to be while the M/V Mount Washington is in service, I suggest a boat wedding. I talked to them a few years ago, and it was all very reasonable...
|
We had our wedding at the Margate in the Mariah room. The Mariah room is beautiful, with ceiling to floor glass overlooking the lake and a huge fireplace. They use Curt's Catering which is top notch. It was the best day of my life.

They have a kitchen, you can have the food catered or cooked on the premises. There is overnight lodging for guests. I had a class reunion there, Alec Ray catered and L.A. East played a mean set of 60's and 70's. We were waterskiing off the beach, and what happened at the boathouse stayed at the boathouse! |

I am in the wedding business and I have been to MANY locations around the lakes. Brass Heart Inn is beautiful.
The person I would contact is Amy Piper of www.signatureeventsnh.com/ She has access to beautiful lake front homes that are used for weddings and other events..she does amazing work! |

This is Mrs Chef Brown, Jeff & I were married at Olivers Lodge & catered the event ourselves with the help of some "foodie friends" We do offer catering at the Deli & would love to speak with you if you are interested. We offer more than a deli spread, Chef Jeff is a fine dining chef & we can work with you on a custom menu! |
Someone was getting married at the gazebo in the town park in Wolfeboro on Friday PM... It looked like they had the Winnipesaukee Belle lined up for their reception. I bet that was a chilly cruise.

amy piper
I agree with the suggestion to contact Amy Piper at Signature Events. She pulled together a wedding for my son and daughter-in-law in July of this year. Her attention to detail and her contact with vendors is worth every penny of her fee.

So many options...
We've attended a wedding at The Inn at Mill Falls. Beautiful!
They accommodated the light rain well with a large outdoor tent, the evening reception was indoors. http://millfalls.com/conferences_events/index.htm We've also watched a wedding while visiting The Castle in the Clouds. They don't close the Castle, but do restrict the inner lawn to wedding guests. You'll have an audience (no issues this day, we all quietly watched)...and spectacular views! http://www.castleintheclouds.org/ |
Lake wedding
My daughter was married by the captain on the bow of the Mount Washington. Reception inside with a cake & dinner. Lovely!
I also went to one at the Wolfeboro Inn at the gazebo. Reception inside, also very nice. Of course, both were in the nice weather, but I'll bet a fall wedding at the inn would be nice. |
My daughter was married at Church Landing in Meredith. It was spectacular, and I have nothing but praise for the wedding coordination team.

ideas
Meredith Falls Is beautiful for weddings although depending on your budget may be expensive. Opechee inn and spa is very pretty too.
Also the farms in the area often rent out for functions. something different. When I got married a few years back we did a small wedding outside ceremony at The Arch Park in Northfield NH beautiful view, and its free you just need to reserve the park and pay a small security deposit but as long as you dont leave anything behind they refund it and we rented a small function hall at the vfw for the reception and had a local restaurant cater. we did our own cakes and decorations. My family is very crafty like that. It was great for our budget and size, and getting it together quickly. Good luck! |
Gunstock Inn
I attended a wedding there once. They have a convention hall next to a large gazebo overlooking The Broads. Plenty of parking and they allow outside catering.
The old Gunstock ski lodge is another nice setting. I originally plan on a mountain top wedding with a reception at the lodge. Guests would be staying at the Alberg Inn which was open at the time. My ideal wedding will be on water skis at Oliver's Lodge. I would have Scott Ouellete cater and 'Phil and The Blanks' as the band. I will also have some sheep from the farm grazing the lawn! NH native wedding  |
Wedding options
Any catering by Curt's of Gilford is fantastic.
Scott from O's is also great, as well as Common Man. I think at Gunstock Ski Lodge, you are limited to the in-house food, but I was guest several times; it's great. Phil is a great wedding & event band. Church Landing staff and facility is great. Lots places have totally different environs from each other. Summit of Gunstock Mountain is an option. The ship in season! Communicate with photographer Hawkins in Meredith; he's been to many places. Good Luck. |
Winni Weddings
The Margate has become very popular as they have an outside tent , church overlooking Paugus Bay as well as the inside reception hall and they have even setup tents for an outside reception tent.
Lake Opechee Inn and Spa does ceremonies right on lake opechee as well as they have an onsite reception hall. The O Steak and Seafood is there as well as the food there is fantastic. Our niece is planning a wedding up the lake currently and she is having a tough time with her final selection. Any wedding on the lake with Family and Friends is bound to be a great event |
Its not Winnipesaukee but you could just do the wedding part on Church Island on Squam Lake. Its a pretty neat place and books out far in advance.I have been to the island many times and I thinks its beautiful.

Steele Hill in Sanbornton was where Argie and I got married twelve years ago. Our first choice was Castle in the Clouds, but just the rental of the hall was a nice four digit number. We paid for our wedding ourselves - and didn't incur any debt from it.
Steele Hill gave us a great location with a wonderful view of the lakes, and yet was very accessible for all our guests. We got a nice discount for booking a Sunday wedding and the Event Services coordinators took excellent care of us, even though we had a small budget. The food was also very good. I've recommended to many people. |
Check out LAKE KNOLL FARM in Alton. They have an event planner on site.
|
I second Church Landing
My son and daughter-in-law were married at Church Landing, and it could not have been more spectacular. Professional, attentive, excellent service and food, and a beautiful location.
