? Foxes 2012
 

We live on Long Island and in past years could almost always see foxes when we drove down the Neck or the Island at night. This season we have seen none. Although unusual, I realize that wildlife viewing does go in cycles. Last evening, a friend living elsewhere on the Lake made the same observation about foxes this year. Is this an isolated observance or is there really a fox " shortage?"

Our friends in Sanbornton often have seen foxes crossing their property in years past. This year they commented that they haven't seen one.

Is this why we're overrun with chipmunks this year?

We live near Black Cat Island. We continually see foxes. There isn't a shortage in our neck of the woods.

Quite a few rabid animals have been found in Moultonborough over the past two years. ( I don't know why it hasn't been publicized) I'm sure that has contributed to the lack of foxes. I used to have two or three Fox that would show up nightly along with several raccoons and a skunk. This summer there has been only one skinny fox.

We have plenty of them along with their pups up here on the mountain. We see them in the yard just about every evening around the 6 to 7:30 hours. All silver, do not know what has happened to the red ones.:)

Mange
 

We had foxes for years then about 3 years ago they started to disappear. I was told that the area foxes had a deadly disease called Mange (sp)
We have seen any at all for the last 3-4 years and we always had 4-10 in the yard

On a dirt road tour of VT, NH and ME last week I saw three foxes in three days. There were four moose (moosen for you Brian Reagen fans) as well. The only shortage I found on the trip was a lack of fried clams. Only one order of clams per week is a crisis!:emb:
