DEER Warning....

Well like I do every year I am posting my Deer warning.
I go to work around 7 am every morning and as such that is the time the Deer are out playing in the street. I have seen Deer on RT 109 almost everyday this past couple weeks. Today I saw two at different points just standing in the road. Probably warming up off the asphalt or something.

So just be careful and stay off the phone early in the morning and late in the afternoon.....Scary stuff on a Bike.

had an insured of mine come in this morning at 8:30 down here in Belmont
hit a deer at 11:30 last night in Weston. was doing 35mph, deer was 140lbs or so they estimated.
damage to hood, bumper, fender, tire, windshield, both head lights and grill. no injuries other than the dead deer

Anyone see or rather listen to this? Pretty funny.

Did my drive home to Waltham this morning about 6:15am...One of my fears is somebody avoiding an animal, veering into my lane as we are both traveling about 60MPH, possibly a truck, it wouldn't be pretty. Driving early morning on a road like 106 is very dangerous.

Deer sign video

Lakesrider: I saw that call-in video on another site, and have to wonder - do you think that woman was for real? Is anyone really that dim?

PaugusBayFireFighter 10-17-2012 03:06 PM

Not surprisingly, she WAS serious...this video is a follow-up video from the first link Lakesrider provided. "DONNA THE DEER LADY" has become quite popular, not for a good reason!!

I heard that on the radio a couple of days ago. Isn't that funny. How stupid are some people?

There is an advantage to being married to this women... you can park in the handicapped zone! :D

Maybe they should put signs like this where the women travels and the deer might not cross the road:

Kind of reminds me of the three stooges "fine for hunting" episode! :D

At this time of year, the whitetails are rutting, and so the hormones are surging and they are seeking mates, which causes them to run around and take chances they otherwise would not. That's why you see them on the roads more often. ?Be careful out there!

Deer kill stats

1 Attachment(s)
This month is a big month for deer kill, but March is worse. Interestingly, moose kill rises in the summer while deer kill is reduced. The chart below is based on reported animal kills over the last 20 years in Moultonborough.

We might need to ask Marine Patrol to add a couple of these on the lake, last week on our way back to Sheps we came upon 4 deer making there way from Bear to Meredith Neck.
At first glance I thought they were the necks of geese as we got closer it was there ears sticking out of the water, the moved pretty fast as we got closer.

Shouldn't the moose crossing signs be put on the bridges so the moose don't have to swim?
