Tears on the bay.

I had just gotten the wifes boat, Deb's Joy, ready for winter storage. Oil change, oil filter, Stabil fuel, fuel filter, battery, dried out, the dockside works.

Then Deb heard me run up the Merc 160 and had one of those female moments. Please, Oh Pleazzzze don't put her up just yet. This is not the first time that this has happened to me. Once the Joy was actually hooked up the the trailer in Center Harbor when the meltdown occured. I guess that is why she married a sailor.

Boy, do I ever hope that she snaps out of it before ice in!

Misty Blue.

PS. I have, in the past, had to break ice to lay up the Misty.

You're a lucky man.

I second Deb's joy. Our boats are still in.

Out of the water tomorrow morning, a bottom clean and then it's over for another season. 24 hours from now I will sitting in Hollis counting the days to ice out.

I know the feeling. I am always sad when the boats have to come out.

PaugusBayFireFighter 10-20-2012 04:38 PM

I saw quite a few boats on Paugus Bay this afternoon. It was a beautiful day for a cruise. Those who have held out on pulling their boats were rewarded today!

We were!!!!!!

We went out around 2 this afternoon. In shirtsleeves. Temp 68. Left Parker Marine and went out the bay, down into Chestnut Cove and then Roberts Cove, then to the north of Rattlesnake, between RI and Diamond, past West Alton and then back to the dock. Out for about an hour or so..Hoping for more. Just don't want to give it up.

A Gift

This past Saturday (Oct. 20) was a gift on the lake. We had a choice between sailing and zipping around in our Whaler. With no wind, we chose the Whaler. The Broads were calm and glassy, which made for smooth full-speed travel. We brought our fishing gear and after a thrilling ride, decided to troll along the Forest Rd. shore over in Wolfeboro. Gorgeous houses over there BTW. I caught a 3 lb. large mouth bass (with red eyes). Grand fight with a few thrashing breaches to boot. (of course no camera).

The temp was about 68 and it felt like one more summer day. I bet we saw some of you out there and didn't know who you were.:)

Feeling blessed to live in Wolfeboro and have the option of getting out on the lake on a moments notice.

Cate u got a rock bass

Correct me if I am wrong, but a bass w red eyes is a rock bass which is a bad fish in the lake. It competes with the other bass and can take over the population of the lake. I am hoping you did not throw that one back!!

That's what I was thinking also but if it was really 3 lbs. there's no way it was a rock bass.

Oct 20th

The lake was fantastic! beautiful weather and almost glass conditions. I'm surprised at the number of boats still on the lake!

VitaBene 10-29-2012 11:40 AM

Vita Bene came out on 10/27 based on the weather forecast but only after taking a nice ride!
