Deer Ticks....still

Why am I still pulling deer ticks off?
My raised beds have 2.5-3" of frost in them, I'm a bit surprised to be finding ticks still. Maybe it's another hundred year phenomenon :)

Ticks are nasty and pretty tough. If adult deer ticks (Blacklegged tick) don't get a yummy blood meal during the fall they don't die, they go dormant. The frost won't kill them and if it goes above freezing they can become active. Even in winter, during a thaw, they can do their dirty deed!
Mother Nature is a mad scientist !!! ;)

Found one on the dog last week. It had to have been there for a while because it was all engorged. Made me realize that her collar needed to be replaced this month! Hate them:eek:
