Any word on Rattlesnake power?
By looking at snake eyes I assume that Rattlesnake is still without power, does anyone now why and when it might be restored? Asking for bubbler reasons.
Thanks |

Interestingly...
NHEC is reporting no outages in NH...can also look specifically at Alton.
Not sure just how many residences are on the island, but I would guess 100 or more. I would guess they would all be affected by this outage.:(:rolleye1: |
Waiting for Smart Meters to get smart
It will be nice when the smart meters NHEC installed are transmitting data. Then each customer can know the power status of their house and the company will have accurate data of who is out.

Nhec
I just talked to NHEC and they have no reports of an outage. I can pay up to $500 to have them go and look. They think they can get there now.
If anyone is going out to the island please check to see if there is power and report it and put on this forum. IG |

I have power at my place on Rattlesnake
I have been out to Rattlesnake a few times over the past week (most recently on Sunday) and I have power. However, I am just a few camps down from where the power arrives onto the Island so it is possible that the power is out on just part of the Island (perhaps the Broads side of the Island).

Never lost power...
I forgot to mention, the power has not gone out at my place on Rattlesnake since I first went out to Rattlesnake this winter back on 1/29...

Question
Just curious how you got there and how thick is the ice. I am on the Sleepers side about 2/3 of the way down towards Alton Bay.

Ice - Getting to Rattlsnake
Back when we had a little snow (last Tues - which only lasted 1 day...) I went by snowmobile (note, I always feel safer on a sled vs. on foot). The last few times (most recently today) I walked because there is no snow.
The ice is perfectly smooth so you need crampons (note, the ice-skating would be fantastic...). The ice from the Landing straight out to the peninsula/point (e.g., location of the former the alligator) is 8" to 10" of good solid-black-ice. Given I have been on foot I have not explored going around the Island but there are always a few trecherous areas/ridges so be careful. |
