"Slush" Fishing 3-2-2013

Well the 2013 season ends for me with a slush fest on the ice!

It was long 1+ mile ride through the slush to get out to the bob house. All the way out I was wondering how the heck we were going to get the house off today. There was anywhere from 6" to a foot of solid slush! Once we reached the bob house we decided to not worry about it till the end of the day and just start fishing.

Fishing was O.K. but not as good as previous weeks. We landed 4 lakers, and a cusk. The largest laker was 21" and the cusk was 17". We also caught one salmon which was cut off at the hole.

At 3:00 P.M. we decided to attempt to remove the bob house from the ice. After making a couple 1+ mile passes with the plow to push the slush aside, we hooked up to the house and surprisingly pulled it off with ease. The Ranger really shined today pulling the house off the ice and I was sure glad to have it.

Well that concludes the 2013 ice fishing season for me. It was short but enjoyable for me and my crew! I am now hoping for an early ice out so I can get the boats in the water, the camp opened up and start the spring salmon fishing season April 1st!!

Have fun everyone!!

It's always wise to pack it in a little sooner as opposed to a little later as the weather can change in a blink. In any event, I enjoyed your photos and commentary on your ice fishing adventures this year. Thanks!

Thanks secondcurve, I am glad someone was listening! I have been trying to get more interest in this section of the forum and was hoping to see other forum fishermen / women take part. While I realize there are other more dedicated and serious forums specific to fishing, I have always considered the Wini forum to be my online home for anything lakes region related and that includes fishing!

Stay tuned for trolling season!!

I was listening too, ishoot. I read your post with interest. I enjoyed reading about you taking your bob house off the ice and the fact that the end is near. Don't think that just because someone doesn't reply, that that means they aren't interested!!

I always enjoy reading your posts. They are well written and your photo's help show what you are doing at the time.

You are a very well rounded individual and seem to enjoy life to the fullest.
