Christmas Island Motel

Was there a fire at the vacant/sold Christmas Island Resort Motel? Last week I noticed the Laconia Fire Department was there and there were holes cut in the roof to appear made for venting...

Thanks
Tank

The Laconia Fire Dept. has been using it for training exercises
before it is demolished.

In the city we trained many times on homes and buildings that were set for demolition. Cutting ventilation holes in roofs, breaching interior walls, search and rescue with heavy smoke or black out shields finding dummies (real mannequins, not my co-workers hiding). Since we rarely have house fires anymore (the fire services bread and butter are medical calls and not fires) this type of training is very important for semi live scenarios. It's also a great way to practice ladder techniques, be it raising 45' ground ladders or aerial devices on trucks.
I don't miss it AT ALL!;)
