Best Place for Ahi Tuna
I am craving some great Ahi tuna tonight! Any suggestions of restaurants in The Lakes Region area that would be good for Tuna?

Lemongrass might also have something along those lines.

Makris on rt 106 is a bit of a drive but the tuna is rare and there are many other good seafood choices. Also 15 or so draft beer choices.

Lyon's Den has Ahi Tuna on their specials menu fairly often. They do a great job with that dish.

Wolfeboro Inn
Just there last night, and had their sesame crusted tuna as an app. Perfectly cooked. You can also get it as a full dinner. I had the salmon special as my main course and it was delicious. Service was great too. Chef Hoke even stopped by our table to check on us and had a nice chat with him too.

You got me thinking of tuna for dinner also. We went to Canoe...very good!

Best Ahi Tuna
I would recommend the O in Laconia or Canoe in Center Harbor. They both have the best around IMHO....

Any one else want to make a first post vote for Canoe ?

We did end up going to Canoe. It was good. Certainly not the best I've had. Good, but not great. They served the tuna with just a few little dabs of wasabi sauce. It was a very mild sauce, whereas I love real wasabi paste. The presentation was good. It was served with rice and deep fried broccolini. I would have much preferred the veggies be just steamed, not a big fan of all the heavy breading but that is just me. The rice was ok but nothing to get too excited about. My friend had haddock and he enjoyed it after sending it back to be cooked! He cut into it initially and it was nearly as rare as my tuna. The server was very nice and rushed it back to the kitchen to be cooked a lot more. He was happy with his meal but again, not jumping up and down and ready to run back right away. Over all we were happy and had a nice evening. Not a meal that we thought was great or overly memorable but not any real big complaints either. Next time I want tuna I will try one of the other suggested places to compare.

AHI Tuna
AHI Tuna is one of our favorites and we order it quite often. The best we ever had was at The Chart House in Steamboat Springs a few years ago and it set the bar to a level that we haven't found anywhere around here until a couple of weeks ago at the Blue Bistro at the NASWA. This was our first visit to the NASWA and we will definately go back. The AHI Tuna was awesome and a very generous portion as well.:liplick:

"Ahi" refers to yellowfin tuna, raw, cooked, or in-between.
