Propane Fireplace Service
We are new to the area and have a home with 3 propane fireplaces which don't seem to be operating properly. It does not appear to be a propane problem because we have had our propane company check them out. However, I would like to get a service in here to fully review the placement of the logs and the equipment. Can anyone recommend a good reliable service company? Thank you very much.

Builder Installed Products
I just had mine serviced by "Builders Installed Products". 1-800-626-7797
They have offices all over New England so I am pretty sure they will service whatever area you are in. The number I supplied is for their NH office which is in Auburn. Good Luck! Dan |

We used Christian Repair last time we needed work done. He came out to the island and took care of everything needed at a very reasonable price.

Type of service needed?
What exactly needs to be done on a propane fireplace? I've replaced some of the "steel wool" in spots but other than vacuuming the outer areas what else needs service? I did notice that when igniting the fire this winter the flame makes a bit of a loud roar when starting, louder than I remember.

In the first case, the fireplace lights but emits a strong smell. Had propane company look at it- they re-positioned the logs but it still smells. In the second it starts fine and then 5-10minutes later shuts off. Sometimes it re-starts itself and other times I have to turn off the switch and then re-start. It also puts soot on the front facing of the fireplace. In the third case - the fireplace is completely enclosed in glass. When it starts- it gives such a pop- you think it may blow out the glass but then quickly returns to normal and no problem after that I bet this is more than you wanted to know - but that is the case. We had energy savers here last fall - no luck //then the propane company- no luck Thank you for reading all this! |
1st and 2nd problems might be venting/draft issues. 3rd sounds like too much gas coming in before the igniter fires. Just a WAG
