Bear Island Trail access by residents?

Hi - looking at island property on the lake. Rented on Barndoor Island and enjoyed the trails there (playing pirate treasure hunt with the kids, etc.)

Just wondering about the trails on the interior of Bear Island - are they accessible to residents, and would they be good for walking, jogging, getting some exercise besides swimming?

On another note, I wondered if there is a Forum in here that is just "Island Life" for topics related to islands only? It seems islands have unique topics/information that might be handy.

Thank you in advance!

The trails on Bear Island are extensive and available to island residents. There are more than 15 miles of trails. There are a places that are often wet and swampy, and trails that are rocky or steep. However many of the trails are flat and clear enough for comfortable jogging. If you go out on the trails with a dog it must be under your control at all times.

Trails on Bear Island

As Bear Islander reports, there are extensive trails on Bear Island. We regularly hike to the St. John's-on-the-Lake chapel which is located at the highest point on the southern portion of our wonderful island. We occasionally encounter deer on our walks. A large portion of the interior of the island has been donated to the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests.

There are a ton of trails to explore and plenty to give you some great exercise. If you ever want to check them out PM me, I always got dock space if you want to tie up and go check them out.
