I want to install an irrigation system in Wolfeboro, any thoughts on a good reliable installer ????

We used Gilford Well. They did a nice job.

I can second the use of Gilford Well.
One point to keep in mind is that an irrigation system needs routine maintenance, including end of season shut-down and beginning of season start-up, so you want to discuss this with the installer and find out if they do the maintenance, or if they just install. Another point to think about is mapping your yard and indicating the location of each sprinkler head, and if it is zoned you need to show which heads are in which zone. One last point, if you are on municipal water be prepared for an increase in your water bill. If you are on municipal water and sewer you may be able to get a waiver of the sewer fee relevant to amount of water you use for irrigation. |
Depending on your water table in your area...
Consider a dug well or point well if you are on municipal water, or even on well water.
Having a well for watering cuts down on municipal water costs, and allows you to take care of your lawn and gardens in the event of a water use ban. Add in a faucet and you can connect a hose for special watering or washing your vehicles and boats. If on a well, it saves on the use of your well pump. If you add a water faucet connection, you can use a manifold to connect the various zones, including one for the faucet. Simply turn off the irrigation zones and open the faucet zone... voila, water for the hose. Just a thought. |
I put in an irrigation system a couple of years ago but not at my Lakes Region home so I won't make a recommendation here. But based on that experience, I would suggest you get quotes from a few installers as I had a significant variance in the pricing which were all bottom line only. Each quote did specify the type and quantity of components and, since they all used Hunter irrigation products, it was fairly easy to compare them.
Also, you will need the installer or someone else to come back each fall with a compressor to blow out the system but you should be able to do the spring start-up yourself. |

I have a separate water meter in my commercial building for irrigation that has a lower cost for no sewage use.

Lakefront owners.
You didn't say you live on the waterfront. I pump the water out of the lake to irrigate the landscape. There is a meter connected to the artesian well to monitor the water for sewer use.
