Pine pollen
Thinking of coming up this weekend and wondering if the pines/hemlocks have released their pollen yet. It always makes such a mess!
|
Pollen is here
Everything where we are in Alton Bay has a green coating on it, including the water in our cove. Twice today it looked like green smoke blowing past our neighbor's island.
|
I noticed some on the car yesterday but I think it's just starting.

Pine Pollen
Just saw traces of pine pollen this morning at East Bear Island.
|
How long does it usually last, will they be done pollinating by the 4th of July? Are there any pinyon pines?
|
This too will pass in 2 or 3 weeks, sort of like mud season. Better that a blizzard or a flood I think. Beats living in the city.

Pine pollen
We need a driving rain and a very windy day to wash/blow it away. Gentle rain and bright sunshine only seems to prolong the problem. But, as Slickcraft says, it will pass. Meanwhile, prepare to sneeze and squint all day.
|
I always used Fathers Day as about when the pine pollen abates. It still is quite common to be collected in calm coves though. Usually gone by July.
|
It was very heavy on the lake this morning. It is windy now so it is all blown away.

All you need is . . .
1 Attachment(s)
some swim goggles and a bandana.

Thanks!
Guess we will be cleaning it up twice this year!
