Old Lake Boat

1 Attachment(s)
I am hoping someone will be able to help me out here. Pictured is a long and narrow lake boat named the "Weownit" from the 1920-1940 era. It was owned by my great uncle who had a camp near Lee's Mills, Moultonborough, and is pictured passing Little Pine Island. It's length is somewhere between 26-30 feet plus or minus. It was powered by a Ford one cylinder inboard motor. I would be interested in who manufactured the boat or any other history one might provide. Thanks!

Laker

There were a few builders in the area. Johnson Lakers comes to mind. Check with some folks in the are who have been around for a few generations. Trexler's may be helpful, also Melvin Village Marina. Merrill or Jeff Fay at Fay's Boat Yard would be a good source. Also, check with Antique Boat Museum in Wolfeboro and go to the Antique Boat & Car Show in Meredith on July 26. Bring any photo's and you will meet plenty of antique boaters who may be able to help out.
Good luck. Great photo.

Yup...A Laker...

Had a neighbor, in the 60's, who owned one. It looked like this...

That looks like a great boat to take a nice relaxing cruise in. Maybe not but it looks it.

Goodhue Hawkins in Wolfeboro built lakers that looked like that. They have quite a history.
