Is it worth anything?
Hi all, I have a Scott 14 hp outboard (1963?) engine. Before I list it, or leave it (at the dump), I am curious as to whether it has any value. It worked fine when last used, about 10 years ago but I don't know if it has any value. If it does I'll post it in the classified section, if not it's going to the dump.

I would defiantly not junk it. I would look on craigslist to see what you could get for it. My guess is a couple of hundred bucks. They don't make them like they used to.....

This may help you figure out exactly what year/model you have:
http://www.elginoutboards.org/elgin1959to63.htm I'm certainly no expert but I'd be willing to bet there's a collector out there somewhere looking for your outboard for parts or to restore. Check EBay; if you can find something similar there, you might be able to get an idea of the value of your outboard. |
Scott outboard motor
I'm sure that someone out there would be interested in your motor. If you don't have any luck selling, you could always donate it to the Antique Boat museum in Wolfeboro.

Scott Atwater
There was a Scott Atwater 10 HP engine at the NHBM auction. For what it is worth to you no one bid on it. And there were collectors and dealers there. All other engines were bid on and found a home. Sorry to say. But I would still put it on Craig'slist. You never know.

Thank you all for your suggestions and link. I'll take a look. Boy, I remember this thing being a lot lighter 40 years ago.
