Leaving in 1 hour.

Not that anyone else cares, but I am heading up in an hour. Has anyone else noticed that there is a problem with time in relation to New Hampshire. I swear that time slows down as I get ready to go, and then as soon as I arrive, time speeds up. Then the trip home with all the kids seems to take forever.

See you soon.
Chris :D :D :D

Chris,
I have the same problem. The week before vacation is the longest of the year. Vacation week is the shortest week. Lastly the week after vacation is the second longest on the year

ain't that the truth.

Heading up on Thursday 5/12 -- a date that's been on my calendar since December...and which doesn't seem to get any closer. But, like you observed, before I know it, I'll be back down here wondering where the time went.

nym3007 04-27-2005 11:34 AM

I agree

I have been going there for 17 years and the weeks before go very slow but once I get up there it flies and before I know it im back in NYC. Ugh, July 18h for 7 days then back to NYC then 7 days later back again then home again then back aug 14th for the last 7 days. Ahh I miss the big lake. If it wasnt for this website I dont know how I would stay in touch with my favorite summer place. Thanks all for making it great. :D

Unfortunately, we are only able to get back once a year. Every year at the end of our vacation, we reserve for the following year. We always get excited in December when it's "Halfway to New Hampshire". Then March - only 3 months to go! Now, with just 2 months to go, like everyone else has mentioned - time seems to slow down. Can't wait to get back!

On a marginally related tangent

Has anyone "seen" glennsteely ? Last I checked there were still buildings in his background and not trees. I'd thought I'd have seen trees by now. ;)

Opening up this weekend, despite the forecast. Can't wait! and the time does seem to be dragging!

Perhaps we should start a "What ever happened to?" thread. I was wondering about glennsteely the other day too. Also miss Rose and her great weekend forcast summaries.

Spring Training!

Opening 5/12-16...and perhaps sneaking in a dive or two and catching a salmon or two. A malted beverage or two may also be consumed.

5/12 can't come fast enough at this point...and it certainly won't. :rolleye1:

Tomorrow's The Night

We'll be heading up tomorrow night. First trip up since Xmas. The stockings are still hung by the chimney with care. Last year we had dock damage but I haven't heard anything from the neighbors this year so everything must be OK. Now, if the water will only warm up a bit faster than last year, perhaps diving over May 12-13 won't be so bad.

Grant 04-28-2005 01:34 PM

Senter...

You lucky dog.

We took a hit on the dock last year as well (don't know if showed you), so I'm hoping for an "incident-free" spring.

As far as the water goes, last year at the same time (May 12-16), it was uncomfortably cold, but actually felt good after sweating like horses in long sleeves, pants and hats while working in the woods (futile black fly protection attempt).

It's why God invented wetsuits!

phoenix 04-28-2005 10:35 PM

will be heading up on May 5 and the boat goes in on May 7. Too cold for me to swim yet but then again living in Phoenix what would you expect. Hopefully will get down to Pepper's for a Lobster fix

KTO 04-28-2005 11:32 PM

Maybe GlennSteely got lost along the way? Just a thought. . .I don't believe that he's adjusted to life "outside" the box!

MAXUM 04-29-2005 09:42 AM

Hey I only live 45 minutes from the lake and it's no different. Good thing is that I don't have that much of a ride to get my fix taken care of. Trouble is it seems like Fridays just drag on by at a snails pace :emb:

Hopefully I can make it up there on Sunday and do some fishin'. Nice to enjoy this time of year before it gets busy.

Heck, I only live a mile away from my boat, and I still get excited :D

Chris Exley 05-01-2005 07:21 PM

What did I tell ya?

Here it is, Sunday night, and I'm back home. Already counting the days until June. Did get to rewire all the electrical systems and hang 3 ceiling fans though. It's good to have most of the 50 year old wiring out of the house and to be on a breaker box.

The darn boat didn't behave, so we didn't get to fish too much. Couldn't get the thing started with any regularity. When it did start (and warm for 15 minutes) it more often then not stalled as soon as I would try to move her. Gotta get someone in to take a look at it.

See you at the lake....

Merrymeeting 05-03-2005 09:18 AM

No matter what the weather, any day at the lake...

House opened
Docks in
Water on with no problems
Yard raked

Watching "What About Bob" on TV with my young son while listening to the rain fall on the roof and water.

Doesn't get much better...except when the sun shines!! :)

Mee-n-Mac 05-03-2005 06:50 PM

Us as well

MerryMeeting pretty much describes our weekend ('cept the movie bit, we brought the DVD player and forgot the DVDs). Add:

Turned on gas and lit pilots (eyebrows still intact).
Dragged out lawn furniture from under camp (spine not intact).
Shovelled up sand migrated from road (blisters fully formed).

Yup, can't get any better  Now all we've got to do it build the conduit and canvas "tent" over the porch so we don't have to use the sun umbrellas this season. Anyone have any experience with the fittings from this company ?
