The Friendly Shirt

I was filling my car with gas at the Cumberland Farms in Meredith Monday night when I found a small plastic bag inside the slot where you insert your payment card. I was skeptical at first and put it on top of the pump. I then decided to at least see what it was.

To my surprise, the package contained a dollar bill cleverly folded up into a shirt accompanied by a cute poem about it being a friendly shirt intended as a small gift.

Perhaps some of you are familiar with this and know the person responsible, but I have never seen anything like it and wanted to thank the thoughtful person for making my night and reinforcing the goodness of people.:)

I have one of those also, and I know the local person responsible for them, but I'm not sure if they want to be named.

Anyway, kind of neat. I came by mine in a different manner than you.

I would guess a newer dollar bill would be better than an older, beat-up bill.

Of course, you could be extremely friendly and $20 bill :D.

lobstadanca 11-15-2015 10:14 PM

Awesome

I will always remember getting mine and to this day, I still look in the slot when I get gas :-)

fatlazyless 11-16-2015 07:53 AM

...... and, keep the change!

Last May, while walking out of the Meredith Mobil with a 3-dollar Wall St Journal tucked under my arm, I noticed a 1-dollar origami dollar bill just outside of the front door and quickly bent down and snatched it up.

What to do with it? After looking at it on the little dashboard shelf of my car for about three weeks, one Wednesday, I decided to spend it at Kellerhaus for one of their locally famous Wednesday Specials, $1.09 ice cream cones, which are like a three dollar value where they don't skimp on the ice cream size and the home made quality is super-super.

So's, for 1.09 I got a cherry chocolate chip cone, and remembering where the "friendly shirt" dollar bill came from, I paid the 1.09 with the dollar and a dime, and said to the Kellerhaus fountain clerk; "you all can keep the one penny change" as a way to pay it forward! Ho-ho-ho!

I received one 3 yrs ago while walking thru Home Depot when a Gentleman walked up to me and said "You look like you could use this today", Boy was he right, I had just been given some terrible medical news about my husband and was walking around in a daze. What an amazing person to do such a thing! God Bless Him!

Outdoorsman 11-17-2015 06:32 PM

I received one at the gas pumps at the Irving station in New Hampton, it was inserted in the slot for credit cards.

What the giver did not know.... I was fueling up on my way home from a funeral for my brother. The absolute hardest day of my life to date, and this was given to me by a complete stranger.

Mission accomplished 'stranger' I will never let that shirt go. Thank you from the bottom of my heart if this gift was from you. I will never forget!

I found one too

I also found one of these at the Meredith Cumberland Farms last January. Nothing like a Random Act of Kindness to brighten up your day!

I was going through the toll booth on I93 last year and was about to pay the attendant. She said the guy who went through ahead of me paid it.
Surprised to say the least.

Did you then pay for the person in back of you?

The Friendly Shirt

I stopped for gas at the Mobil station off exit 23 in New Hampton on Monday, February 27, 2017 @1:00 P.M.. There was a small plastic envelope with a folded up dollar bill in the credit card slot, it was folded in the shape of a shirt. The envelope included a poem titled "The Friendly Shirt". I intend to hold on to the envelope and the message and pass on the spirit and the monetary gift to those that I encounter in need. The individual that has initiated this mission is undoubtedly someone who cares and respects all of us as human beings.
