out of state boat registration

I was wondering if you need to register an out of state boat that has 15 horsepower to fish on the lake for a weekend.

My guess is yes, that I need to register as a visitor and have the Marine Patrol check to boat for invasive species. However, I do not know how to go about that. Since I will be staying in Gilford, should I go to the Marine Patrol at Glendale?

Also can anyone suggest good bait for this time of year?

I appreciate the help! ;)

Woodstock,
As long as your boat is registered in another state you do not have to register it in NH if you're just using it for the weekend. If you were to keep in in NH for 30 days you would then have to register it in NH. If it is not registered in another state, then you will need to register it.
There is no inspection required. Just come on up, put your boat in the water, follow the saftey guidelines and have fun. With such a small boat be real careful as the boat wakes and wind can make it pretty rough out there. You should also invest some money and purchase a chart of the lake, Bizer makes a great one.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the information...

Playing Hooky -

I thank you for the help. And you are right, I will be careful. We dont plan on straying too far from shore and it is a more casual trip than anything. But your tip is noted.

Any good ideas or information regarding fishing you could supply me with?

spots
bait
times, etc?

I do have a Three day license already for the dates which i will be at the lake.

Woodstock,

If you're going for bass, I've always had good luck with yellow / chartreuse spinner baits.

Also, when you get here, stop by Freshwater Boats and Outfitters (corner of 11 and Lily Pond Road) in Gilford. They can always give you the latest on what spots, species and lures are working. Have fun, be safe.
