Enjoy your burgers, Uppy! BTW, it was great to chat with you, ghfromaltonbay, Slickcraft and the others at Ellacoya a couple weeks ago while we each enjoyed our burgers!

upthesaukee 03-02-2015 05:28 PM

Enjoyed it.

It was a good lunch. Thanks for the invite and the hospitality. I enjoyed the conversations as well, and of course the burgers.

Damn

Dietician says no more beef burgers and fried foods. =(

So I am looking for Bison burger places. Common Man chain and Hungry Buffalo has them.

I've eaten many Elacoya burgers. It is a great burger and a great promotion. Everybody always seems very happy there on Monday.

I've also been thinking about the small plate alternative lately. Looking for feedback on my $4 burger. Stipulations: Dine in only, must be completely consumed by only one patron, reservations required. Failure to comply will null and void offer and default to market pricing by weight. ,

They have bison burgers, from the Hungry Buffalo down in Chichester.

Cookin at the Lakeside is across from Walmart in Gilford.

Did they put a candle in it for your birthday?:emb:

upthesaukee 03-03-2015 03:15 PM

Nope...

Not really celebrating birthdays...just the fact I made it through yesterday, and was able to get up today. Live it a day at a time.

Every day spent vertical is a good day :D.

Did have a good burger and a beer, though.

That kind of thing happens to me all the time. I read something and say "Say What?!" Then I reread. In your case, I got a chuckle as I relate, but it didn't ruin my reading of the entire thread. But hey, it had been a while since we had a "scrap". Maybe we are running out of vitamin D....
:)

Don't cheap-out on the tip...

My wife and I availed ourselves of the Monday night special several times this past fall. It was great! It's on our permanent list of Monday night activities.

Now, $5 for dinner is all well and good, but a $0.75 (15%) tip is hardly fair for the excellent services provided. Remember that server wages take into account that a large part of their income will come from tips.

A good rule of thumb is to compute your tip based on the "regular" prices you would expect to pay, not on specials and coupons.

GBGX2 03-23-2015 09:47 AM

Excellent Point....

That is very true... Barbi and the waitstaff work very hard and give great service !

Based on service also

Agreed,

However I base most of my tips on the service I get. It's not a rare thing for me to drop a $5 tip on a bill of $8. But there are also times where the percentage of the tip is far below the 20% some expect and it was because the server only took the order then delivered it and was never to be seen again except to drop the bill off. And yes I take into account how busy the establishment is under those circumstances.

Now back to the regular program.

Burger Nite

Made our weekly visit for Monday nite Burger. Another great burger, great service and always enjoyable talking with the bar and waitstaff.

GBGX2 12-06-2015 08:08 AM

Ellacoya !

This is an old thread but it answers the question about a burger and beer posted recently. The TV is not the best for watching the game but the burger more than makes up for the small screen!

See the picture of the burger at the beginning of the thread.

Go Pats!

Ellaycoya

The wife and I went there yesterday for the first time. A very late lunch situation on a Saturday. We had never been there but had wanted to try it for a while now and now was the time.

I had the pulled pork (on a sub roll that I think they call something fancy and french) Some of the best pulled pork I've ever had and I've had plenty. Fries were fresh cut and really good.

My wife had the portabella sandwich. That is her go-to specialty and if a restaurant has it, she'll most likely try it. She said it was one of the best she has had. She had the sweet potato fries and said they were also very good.

Beer was cold and service was excellent. I liked the atmosphere and it is definitely going on the rotation.

My wife and I went there for the first time tonight. It was very good. We will definitely go back..

Looks like our lunch today, except my wife and I went for sauteed onions, no cheese and no rolls. Also at the table were DRH, Quilt Lady, DBA and ghfromaltonbay.

All enjoyed the Ellacoya burgers and the conversation.:)

Perhaps, let's see- NYC tomorrow, Boston Thursday, Charlotte next Tuesday through Thursday, then FL 2/28 through 3/5. All business travel.

I think I get out enough- I just don't feel like climbing back behind the windshield when I get home and driving around the lake! I kind of like it here!

GBGX2 02-17-2016 07:09 AM

Never get tired of this thread!

My original post/photo and the burgers remain just as good ! Great food and value, thanks for bringing it back again, Airedale1!

I always use the same line when discussing business travel- it is way over-rated!!
