Finally! Signs of Spring!
 

Mrs. Derby and I did some driving today. It's finally starting to feel like Spring around here, despite the snow cover from yesterday's storm.

• Drove by the East Alton General Store. It's open!
• The Merrymeeting Marsh/River at the Alton Circle is surprisingly open. Very wide areas of open water.
• Back Bay in Wolfeboro is opening up quickly. Several fishing on the bridge and along wall to Mount dock.
• On the Spaulding Turnpike from Portsmouth, many more out-of-state plates heading north than we've seen in a while (or at least those without ski racks!)
• Driving in the rain, my car was actually cleaner when we got home than when we left!

Dare I hope for my favorite Spring indicator this weekend? Peepers!

Have had the peepers here in northern Ct. for about a week now. Love that sound !!

Heard peepers last night in Durham! Always a welcome harbinger

The peepers were chirping away in the marsh near us on Monday! :) :D :)

We went up last weekend to open our cabin up for the season - heard the peepers and saw a Loon :) It was great! and no bugs! ....yet :rolleye2:

also saw a loon in Green's basin this weekend
