Griddle says Lobsters are Coming!
Does anyone know what's going on at Griddle in the Middle? I think I read somewhere that they're planning to serve dinner, but I can't recall where I saw that.
|
Their Facebook page says "Yes, the rumors are true….we will be opening for dinner this summer (no pancakes)! We will be announcing our tantalizing menu from land and sea in May."
|
I wonder . . .
if they're getting rid of the clown. I've never been, pass it quite often. It's the clown, sadly enough.

must have been listening. And I'm correcting my clown statement. Ice Cream Chef with an air of clown.

Lobsters & More at Griddle in the Middle
Lou Gaynor, the former owner/chef at the Lobster Pound, who sold the LP several years ago and moved to FL about a year ago, was in town recently to help the owner of the Griddle, his friend, with the reconfiguration of the restaurant.
If Lou had anything to do with the new menu, it should be good. |
New sign . . .
was up today when I passed. Odd sign since the two restaurant names are long and layered over one another>
Griddle in the Middle & Something Lobster (even at 40 mph, I missed the second part and drove by it twice) From a marketing standpoint, the sign is a failure. Hoping they put a lobster flipping pancakes between the two names to show cohesion. |
Is Misha somehow related to Bumble.. ?!?
|
Nope . . .
no relation.

Ad in Laconia Daily Sun May 30th pg 6 bottom
Ad talks about the Griddle in the Middle all you can eat pancakes, and then says that Meredith Lobster Shack and Barbeque is comming soon. (the spelling in the ad is theirs, not mine :()
Goes on to say they will have lobster, steamers, baby backs, brisket, mussels, bbq chicken, garlic crab, jumbo shrimp. |
Purely a matter of taste but I don't think it is a problem to separate a breakfast restaurant from a seafood shack even if in the same place. The sign works for me...and most importantly eliminates the creepy clown/chef.

My observation
was that I passed it twice and didn't catch the second half of the name. Signs don't necessarily need an image, but restaurants should have a brand. And maybe they will, as the signage is new.
A sign is a significant piece of marketing. I'm not bashing them in any way, but putting out constructive observations from a consumers point of view. And if being compared to Bumbles is seen as a negative, he must speak his truth. I wish them nothing but the best. We live up here year round and going to the same 3/4 good local restaurants can get boring. Quote:
