Wide Open Saloon Location
What are they building where the Wide Open used to be?
|
Probably more parking space for what could be the craziest bike week ever. If the rumored bands are on board, and word is they are, you're about to see some historic stuff at the Weirs.
|
OK...do share please. What are you hearing for bands?
|
There's another thread that mentioned Aerosmith. I've also heard Garth Brooks, Def Leppard and Jimi Hendrix. I'm sure the last one is not true. Honestly it's all a bunch of nothing until it's announced. I'd be more intrigued with how Laconia handles a crowd of 30,000 people. The permit is for 30k. There has to be a plan to handle the possibility of that many people for Saturday. Not an easy task.

Would be a long trip for jimi hendrix to get to the wiers

After today's masecre . . .
in Waco, TX. I'm sure it will be a typical "Cop Week". No offense to law enforcement. Bring in the armored tank from Keene.

The SP and Chief Adams should try to visit Myrtle Beach bikeweek down Murrels Inlet, SC area. Murrels is home to all of the bike bars and many other cool waterfront restaurants. The police (like in NH it is a mix of state and local officers) are polite and welcoming yet firm when needed. |
And then there is this over reaction
Applebees closes yesterday
Police confirmed to News 9 that they received intelligence about a threat. Police are not classifying it as a threat of violence, instead saying it involved an alleged action between one motorcycle group and another. If its not a threat of violence then what kind of threat would close a restaurant down? |
Jimi Hendrix......now that I would like to see.....Jimi Hendrix risen from the grave.
|
Jimi Hendrix
I got to see Jimi Hendrix in Lewiston, Maine in the late 60's. Quite a show for the time.

'Laconia Fest' is a bust
Laconia's attempt to get Aerosmith and other headline bands has deflated into another week of the same old stuff. The vendor tents and stage are setting up for Bike Week. Nothing new. Hopefully good weather will bring in crowds that will benefit the local businesses. Quiet Riot was the best they could do.

Are you surprised??
Some no name LLC from down south... leases the Drive In 1 MONTH before Bike week with BIG promises of 30,000 people! There are SO many issues with this idea....
30,000 people? To put that in perspective Meadowbrook seats 8,300 people. The Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester seats approx. 12,000 people. Boston Garden seats 20,000 people! Gillete stadium seats approx. 60,000 people! They said they would bring in 30,000 people? For 1 night? With what infrastructure? There is NO PARKING! NO TOILETS! NO FOOD & WATER! Lets not mention that 30,000 people dumping out of a concert into the Weirs would cause an AMAZING traffic jam during BIKE WEEK! Do you really think the LPD could keep a handle on a crowd that large? The parking issue really isn't solvable... unless you lease lots and bus people in. The infrastructure issue could be solvable... but I cannot imagine the stink from the amount of Porta potties needed! So now we have 2 washed up bands playing 2 nights... IF they get 5000 people to PAY to see Quiet Riot I will be shocked! I truly hope they leased the Drive In for what the Baldi's would have made in Bike Week revenue from vendors and parking! If they settled on a take from the ticket gate... I think they will be sadly disappointed! Woodsy |
