Satellite TV
I am wondering if anyone has experience with using Dish or Direct TV as a means for TV service on their boat? Until recently I was using Metrocast but that has ended. Thanks and look forward to your help.

We used something similar during our motorhome days and it worked out well. Good luck! Dan |
We used a dish on our RV, it was in-motion/auto-tracking dish so that we could use it while on the road. It worked pretty well. Same technology is usable on boats. We got ours through Camping World. Ours was Directv based as we have it at home already. It was a standard sat box from our house that plugged in.
Are you looking for something used just at the dock or when under power? |
I've installed KVH Tracvision antennas.
They are expensive. Not an install that can be purchased installed and running for under 2500. Typical Marine recreation units runs 2200+ plus cost of channel box.. 4-600. install time varies from boat to boat. Tech support phone time can take a little while to subscribe and set up a new system. They are nice, but the cost is still sky high |
I have direct TV and a KVH dome. The service is as good if not better than what I get at my house. The dome is about 2K to add to you boat. I use the direct tv for six months a year and put in on hold for the winter.

8 years. No television. My wife and I stream shows on the computer. Hell with paying $100+ a month for that garbage. ;)
