That's terrible, prayers and hope the gentleman is rescued. Be careful out there.

I do not usually use the strap, as we all do move around a lot.
But if your driving it's always a good idea. Could have saved a life today if he was using one! Really sad to a good day. I guess it takes a wake up call, but I'll clip on when driving now! |
Sad Day
Ironically, I was out fishing in that area until about 8:30. In a 17 foot Montauk. With a black Portuguese Water Dog along for the ride. Reading the article gave me chills.
Pretty quiet that time of day yesterday. Very few boats out and about and I only saw two other boats fishing. Alone the north shore of Governor's tends to have a fair number of boats heading towards Meredith though. Later in the day there would have been a better chance someone would have witnessed it and perhaps the outcome would have been different. |
any updates?
Just wondering if there is any news on this story...........Haven't checked any news outlets.
|
I just saw the dive team going back out from MP headquarters. I can only assume they have not found anything yet...
Very sad... Dan |
Still Searching
Saw on the 11:00 PM WMUR news that they have not located the body. They did say it was an adult male but have not released his name. They examined the boat and found the the steering cable was broken. This could have caused the boat to make a sharp turn and possibly throw the driver overboard. It is something they are looking into. They will be out again tomorrow to continue the search.

Regardless however this is sad news, for the family involved. |
I have personally been faced with the loss of a loved one that was missing in Lake Winnipesaukee. We helped search for the body. It was a boating accident and the body was found 4 days after the drowning occurred. The waiting was terrible and the loss has been with me for 44 years. I feel so so sorry for the family.

Missing Person Identified
LACONIA, N.H. —New Hampshire authorities have released the name of a man who has been missing since his empty boat was found on Lake Winnipesaukee over the weekend.
The State Police Marine Patrol division says the search continued Monday for 63-year-old Domenic Tringale of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Authorities were called Saturday morning about a boat circling off Governor's Island Beach in Gilford with a dog on board, but no sign of people. Investigators stopped the 17-foot outboard boat and took the dog to shore, but divers and other marine patrol officials have been unable to find Tringale. |
Man, I think I found the Facebook of the wife. Young kid. Newborn. Golden lab. Bunch of pics on the water too. :( That royally sucks if I found the right one.
|
I figured something was up when I passed that area about 10:30a on Sat and saw one MP and one fireboat off the NE corner of Gov. Then coming back from Center to Weirs about 7pm I saw 3 MP on station in large triangle on station.
So sad. |

Body Recovered
Divers have recovered the body of Mr Tringale. May this bring some closure to his family.

This is such an awful story. I honestly feel terrible for the man's family, and for the dog as well. I know dogs don't have human thoughts, but all I can picture is the dog being happy to be out on the boat, and next thing he knows his human disappears and he is left on the boat going around in circles wondering where his human went.
Such a sad story all around. I am glad they found the man to give the family some closure. |

Having had dogs all my life I can tell you this dog is having emotions over this situation as well. What the long term effects will be on the dog is hard to tell. They do generally get over things quicker then humans do. However lingering effects may remain. The dog may never enjoy the boat or water again. When my father died, until my mother sold the house, our Golden Retriever would go to the spot where my father died, and lay down every night and let out a mournful whine... This lasted over a year... The dog was fine the rest of the day, but at night, he wanted to remind us that someone was missing, and he knew it. |
Sad story. I usually don't use my strap or my inflatable vest when I'm out alone, maybe a good idea to use both. Is there an obituary for Mr. Tringale?
|
I hate to be morbid here, but I'm thinking the gentleman didn't have a chance once that cable broke and the engine didn't cut out. I hope they release what they think happened. Lots to learn here, especially about wearing that cut off cord.
