Braun Bay sandbar with kids

we will be boating on the lake in a couple of weeks, July 18-25. How is the crowd during the week at Braun Bay? Is it safe & friendly for children or do you folks recommend another spot?

Thanks!

My wife and I have taken our 5 and 3-year-old over there on weekends quite a few times, and it's always been fine--I think a lot of the complaints tend to be from people who are looking to enjoy the sandbar in a more relaxed way, which may be the case during the week, but definitely not on the weekend.

You will get a combination of everything and everyone during the week...and same with the weekend for the most part, maybe a bit more party crowd during the weekends. We always bring our kids there and when we get there just try to find a quieter area to anchor. We always see lots of other families there...enjoy!!!

The sandbar at West Alton Marina is always family friendly. With a marina , gas dock, convenience store, bathrooms etc, right around the corner you'll be ready for any family needs. The "Burger Barge" is usually cruising around for lunch, and you're only ten minutes from Wolfeboro, if you need to make an ice cream run. Make sure you bring two anchors and get there early..

Thanks for the input!

Ice Cream in Alton Bay at Pop's Clam Shell, Shibley's, at the Mini Golf, and Stillwell's (in the old Pavilion).

I agree. West Alton Sandbar (aka, Urine Cove) (Sorry) is a great place to hang out with the kids. There's a lot of MP presence. My camp looks right at the sandbar and we still go across to swim and hang out. In addition to the conveniences mentioned above, you get a free, high speed boat show while you're there as all the performance boats love to do "fly by's" past the sandbar.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Another place for a "boat Show" is the Margate sandbar in Paugus Bay. Again, family friendly with a constant flow of boats

.

West Alton or Paugus depending on ages

We tend to try and void Braun, and it's by far the closest to our place. It can tend toward the rowdier side of things even during the week in the mid summer weeks. West Alton and Paugus are quieter, especially during the week. You take your chances with loud music, drinking, some colorful language, etc at Braun.

It's been a while since I've been there but I've found the rowdy side tends to be to the right (when looking at the shore) and more families to the left.
