Places to wakeboard!
I am sure this has been posted before but I am looking for a place on winni where we can have some smoother water to do some wakeboarding or wakesurfing. Usually ride around meredith and center harbor area. Any help would be great thanks.

6AM would be a good start:D

Blackey Cove is popular for that. I imagine the big wakes help keep the milfoil at bay in there too.

Not a lot of feedback?

You probably won't receive a lot of feedback to this question because nobody wants to divulge their place to always find calm water. More people means less calm water. That said, here's a couple tips/ideas for you:
-Always pull your rider in a straight line. (See the image below) DON'T TOW PEOPLE IN A GIANT CIRCLE! It creates a mess of the calm water because all of the waves converge. Also, if you are constantly turning, one side of the wake will always be whitewash which makes it hard to jump. And the inside of the turn will always have slack in the rope. -When a rider falls, don't do a power turn (up on plane) to retrieve them - this sends rollers down your own line and messes up the line for others trying to ride. - Coordinate your line with others in the bay/cove. If everyone is on the same line, then the water stays calm. - If you ride in the same spot as others on a regular basis, you will undoubtedly become close and should/could consolidate into one boat. Saves on gas, make friends and bigger wake! - You can wakesurf pretty much anytime and in any conditions - No need to wake up early and throw slow rollers in a calm cove. Do that out in the broads. - Tubers ruin lives. |
