Help with Diver Halloween Costume
OK, we're going to a family Halloween party and I plan to be the diver from Finding Nemo, my wife will be Darla, my son Nemo, and my daughter the starfish.
But I need help on the diving gear--anyone have, or know where I could find, broken/cheap diver's gear. I have the snorkle, mask, balaclava/black shirt/pants (will be worn to school, no wetsuit!), and flippers. Need (I think), the regulator, tanks (may make my own, given the weight), and...what else? Thanks! |
Tanks
I think you could make a tank out of sonotube, either from building supply store, or maybe a left over piece from a local contractor. Pretty lightweight. Tubing from a C-pap machine, mouthpiece from sports mouthguard (or a binky!). You won't be able to sit or maneuver in a crowd with a tank on your back. Maybe the snorkel and the association with other cast members is enough to complete the image?

take two 2 liter bottles put top to top tape theren then use a piece of cardboard to hide that section and tape the up in all Gray Duct Tape
whoa la air tank |
I have been scuba diving for years and I can tell you that you do not want to try and wear an actual tank as part of your costume. While slighltly negatively or positively bouyant in water, they are quite heavy on land and on top of that you would need to wear a harness or BCD to hold the tank. You could possibly use a so called "pony bottle", a type of small tank, but I think your best bet is something homemade and light to resemble a tank An actual regulator might work as an accessory. You might try contacting a dive shop to see if they might have some mock ups that they would be willing to lend you.

Thanks, all--did a Google search and found a fake tank idea!
