Did I miss the Mount?

Did I blink? Or did the Mount not visit Alton Bay on Sunday?

You didn't blink...

I believe that they had a private charter on Sunday that kept them from visiting Alton Bay.

I questioned the Mount's route on Sunday as well. The usual route takes it past our place about 9:45 a.m. and it never appeared. Later saw it coming on the west of Rattlesnake towards the Weirs and was puzzled.
The "charter" seems a reasonable explanation.

It was chartered

It was, indeed, chartered. From the mount's web page:
Quote:

2005 Unavailable Dates ===== The following dates and times are unavailable because the ship has been chartered. ===== Sunday, June 5 11:15 AM from Alton Bay, 12:30 PM from Weirs Beach ===== Monday, June 6 10 AM from Weirs Beach, 11 AM from Center Harbor, 12:15 PM from Meredith ===== June 13-19 All Cruises (Laconia Bike Week)
Has the Mount been chartered for all of bike week, or is their business so bad during bike week that they just shut down?

WeirsBeachBoater 06-06-2005 07:30 PM

Not Chartered

It will be dockside at the Weirs. Full service Bars and food! :D

The Mount in Alton last Sat night

Given the info above I thought the Mount would be tied up @ the Weirs last weekend but to my surprise it came steaming down Alton Bay just before 11pm (I think is was 11). Even more odd it stopped at it's usual pier and did something (on or off I'm not sure) with passengers. I can only deduce someone had it chartered for that night and had a special request. I've never seen the mount come down the bay at night before. It gave the visiting kids a chance to do the traditional island light flashing thing :) ... that and blind some of the passengers with my new 10mcp spotlight. :coolsm:

Bike week kills the regular biz for the Mount, so it stays tied to its' Weirs dock all week and becomes a floating restaurant w/ a full liquor license. Off-duty prison guards from the state prison in Laconia work a security detail. The Mount never does much business with this plan. What they need are off-duty Hooter's waitresses, or something!

What do I really know about all this.....not much!
