A Cold One Today

It was 70 here on Thursday and today it was in the 20's with heavy winds and waves out on the lake. Hopefully this was Winter's last gasp. Ice laden branches and boulders from the waves on Lake Winnipesaukee today. This is the view from Governor's Island, right before the bridge.

The roller coaster temp swings gave me a cold. I sure hope this is the last of it.

Wife and I took a ride around the island (Aquidneck,.. RI) this afternoon. We left in bright SUN, blue skys. 10 minutes later we were in blizzard conditions going down the road..SHE says, lets turn around an go home. I says..this will blow over. Less than 10 minutes later we had blue sky's again. I reminded my wife that I am Always right. For the next two hours..Blue sky,s, then snow squalls and then sun and blue sky's. It was a great drive around Ocean Drive, Newport.. :) NB

PS: Windy: Big Surf on Brenton Reef.

Two thoughts

1. Where were the parents, either now or in the past 17 years, to instill greater common sense in this young woman?

2. What does the future hold for someone foolish enough to go out in a kayak with no life jacket in water that is a lot less than the 45 degrees stated in the article?

Yup--that was ridiculous, and neither had PFDs.

ice!

Looks like a good sized sheet of ice on Paugus Bay, with the wind blowing it toward the T-Bones cam.....http://www.nh1.com/pages/t-bones-eatery-weather-cam/

I have a pond across the street from me in Bedford NH. I had ice out about a month ago. This is the first time in 20 years I have seen it go back to totally frozen over this morning.
