Beach day trip suggestions ?
 

Need some beach day trip suggestions on the Coast?

Salisbury, Hampton, Rye, Wallis Sands, Maine options?

Also.... Does Portsmouth have any beaches ? Thought I could beach there and maybe tour Strawberry Bank in the same day ?

Wallis Sands is a great little beach, real quiet, and also closest to Portsmouth.

Roll the dice and try to park on the road and go to RYE where all the private homes are, it will be a lot less crowded than Wallis Sands, (same beach).

I'm not familiar at all with Rye and where those private homes you mentioned are located, on the main road?

Can you give me some landmarks? Does the town tow on those streets?

Also maybe some seafood restaurants suggestions nearby?

Parking along Ocean Blvd is permitted. Pretty much anywhere between Wallis Sands Parking lot and Petey's Seafood Restaurant.
Petey's has decent seafood, but if you are looking for a lobster roll head further south to The Beach Plumb.

Another option is Jenness Beach in Rye, meter parking, but it tends to get crowded on weekends.

Definitely wouldn't call it a "beach" since it's all rocks but Odiorne Point State Park is in Rye and if you go at low tide, you can venture out into the tide pools created by the rocks and catch starfish, urchins, crabs, and all kinds of other little critters or find sea glass, etc.

Like I said, not a beach but it's in the area and it makes for a fun couple of hours

New Castle
 

Great Island Common in New Castle is nice, it has parking, bathrooms, tide pools, sandy beach, etc. and is close to Strawberry Banke

at end of hampton beach before you go over the bridge. plenty of parking. can climb on jetty and search rocks:)

If you want total peace and quiet, it's worth the 2 hour drive to Popham Beach State Park (Maine) huge beach with two islands that you can walk out to at low tide. There are little tidal rivers, rocky outcroppings and lots of wild life. The beach is so vast that you can find your own spot and be alone if you wish.
It is very shallow there in spots and the tide withdraws almost 1/4 of a mile.
The sun warms the sand causing the incoming tide to warm the water a lot more than you would expect.

Absolutely no honky tonk ........just sand, surf and one restaurant (Spinney's)

Parsons Beach
 

I second Popham Beach State Park. Another Maine destination I like to suggest is Parsons Beach, below Goose Rocks Beach. A private beach with very limited public parking. Go early during the week or on the evening.
