Looking for Honest Decking Contractor
 

Hi All,
We need to replace the planking on our old wood deck and are looking for an honest contractor. I have had two contractors provide estimates on the project and they are way off in labor costs (huge differences in the two estimates), disposal fees and materials. (Maybe they don't want the job)

We've had great success with Tobin Greer from Ambrose Marine. You might be right about the variation in cost being related to the (un-)willingness to do the job. Sounds like the size of the project and their schedules might have something to do with it.

Resurrecting this thread... we have a deck expansion we want to do in Laconia... 500 SF or so. No rush.

Looking for reputable contractor recommendations. I have a short list of contractors that I got from local lumber yards but any first hand experience would be helpful.. any thoughts would be appreciated!

I would trust Doug Wade at Bluebird Construction. We have not had him work for us however we met him and his wife at T-bones once. His wife's order took some time and we were eating before them. Doug started a conversation and I would say he and his wife are exceptional, kind and pleasant. Should we need any work done we surely would hire Doug.

I agree, except that I have used him before and he did a fantastic job. Very responsive, high-quality work, made some really great suggestions for us that actually ended up making our project nicer while saving us money that we had not thought of! Would certainly highly recommend and be a reference.
