Sea Ray Damaged at Wolfeboro Docks

On Sunday, 7/3, morning at about 10:00 a.m. a large Carver attempting to pull into the Wolfeboro docks slammed into a 20' Sea Ray open bow. The force of the Sea Ray being smashed between the Carver and the dock was so hard you could actually see its beam compress while making an awful cracking sound. I thought for sure the Captain of the Carver would do the right thing and leave a note for the owner of the Sea Ray. He didn't, he just casually headed in to town. Since the Captain didn't bother to leave a note, I did. I hope the owner of the Sea Ray found it. If you are the owner and discover the damage later and can't find the note, reply to this forum and I'll let you know how to contact me.

Like kayaks,

Those 20' SeaRays are "hard to see."

Commendable

I might suggest calling the Wolfboro police and/or Marine Patrol and reporting the bow numbers of both boats (if you haven't already done so). I think there's a much better chance that the owner of the Sea Ray would have reported any damage to them.

I'm not really sure if leaving the scene of an accident applies the same way to boating as it does on the road.

Even though it wasn't my Sea Ray, thank you - you're the type of guy I'd like to have around when something like this happens. It's nice to see more of us out there.

The problem with damage like this is that you can't see it. Even if the Searay owner knows about the incident, unless the boat is taking on water, he will never know how much damage was done. The Carver captain will say he just bumped the Searay.

It will probably take a skilled surveyor to see any damage. If the damage is very bad there may be some visible cracking but even that won't be visible until on the trailer.
