Alton Bay state ramp

Does anyone know if the state has any plans on doing more work to the state ramp at Alton Bay this year? I went down late last year to use it and ended up turning around. I have a relatively long boat and the lip at the end of the concrete planks was so bad I didn't think I'd be able to pull my boat back out later in the evening without ripping off an axle. Not to mention the docks were about to fall over. Very sad!

Should be much better with the lake level up. The ramp across the bay might be better for you though.

I thought of that but the trailer parking over there is such a pain in the butt. There is another marina up the road in Alton with a public ramp. I can't think of it's name right now. Are they "large boat friendly"?

West Alton Marina has a ramp. They are right off of Rte 11 opposite Rte 11A. Not sure about their ramp but there are big boats in the marina.

Alton has a parking area for your trailer on Letter S Road when you use the town ramp.

In a low water condition like we had last fall, the ramp on the west side of the bay next to Shibley's may not be a good choice. The concrete ramp pad just drops off and you may not be able to get a triple axle trailer deep enough to recover the boat and stay on the pad. I had trouble a few years back with my 25 ft bowrider and trailer pulling the boat out, due to being real close to the ramp end.

You don't have to use the F+G ramp to park there. There's nothing stopping you from launching and retrieving at the town ramp and parking at Downings Landing F+G ramp, assuming the lot is not full... WAM has a big-boat-friendly ramp and pretty much unlimited parking.

I never thought of it that way...Thanks!!! If I get there early enough that would work great.

I know!!!I've been there around 11 in the morning and the parking was crazy. What's sad is the parking lot had more cars in it than trucks with trailers. It's too bad what that place has come to since it turned public. I would have gladly paid the $40 bucks to launch and park there like you used to be able to.

Never made it to this end of the lake this year...Does anyone know if they did anything to improve the docks over the summer or are they still in disrepair?

Docks

As of this past Columbus Weekend they were a complete hazard!!! Hope they are planning to redo them.
