Thanksgiving Dinner?
A bad work schedule for my wife and I has us looking for Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant for the first time ever, along with our 5 children (20-8).
Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Obvious choice would be...
Harts Turkey Farm, Meredith.

Not sure which side of the lake your on but Hart’s would have a very traditional Thanksgiving dinner but i would choose “O” or Lakehouse at Church Landing. Sent from my iPhone using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |
Unable to get there this year .. I can personally vouch for Lyon's Den ......... Full turkey dinner. Yum - yum !
Reservations are a MUST and I suspect you may already be too late . |
option
Don't they have places that cook a whole turkey dinner and you take it home.

Wow that is a fantastic alternative. I love Ellacoya, never a bad meal

Hannaford does full dinners.$59 Call soon though.

this probably won't go over well the the Harts Turkey farm lovers but I have been the 3 times in past couple of years and I couldn't be any more disappointed in their food. The turkey is "ok" but sides and gravy are just awful. Wife and kids agree. You would think a place with "Turkey Farm" in its name would make a killer meal but we went 3 times figuring "maybe just a bad night" and it is perminantly off our list. Suprisingly, T-Bones makes a really nice turkey dinner. I believe there is one in Laconia #steakhousenailsturkeydinner

Not saying I’ll never go again but with lots of other dining choices where you feel the management is trying to make a business better with menu changes, new dishes, etc., something to look forward to...while the turkey farm stays the same. Mediocre, food for thought...;) I think this quote, taken right from their website drives home a point of sorts: “On a busy day, we serve more than one ton of turkey, 40 gallons of gravy, 1,000 pounds of fresh potatoes, 4,000 dinner rolls, and more than 100 pies.” |

I agree with above about Hart's, stop going. The family have much better luck with the Homestead down the road on 104 before Bristol. Check it out!

We are in agreement with the above statements. Haven’t been in years.

We also stopped going to Hart's. The thing that's annoying is that it's very convenient (on our way to/from camp) and would totally hit the spot on cool spring/fall nights.
My thought is that Hart's is like Celebrity Cruise Lines: catered to an older crowd. Food is much more bland and desserts are less sweet. Watching the people walking in, the average age has to be higher than many of the other local restaurants. Sent from my Moto G (5S) Plus using Tapatalk |
I have not been there in about 5 years for the same reasons. What is aggravating is that they cater the food at Akwa Vista and the food is good.

Thanksgiving dinner
Who says you have to have 'Thanksgiving dinner' on Thanksgiving day? Because of your work schedules, maybe you could find a day agreeable to all and have the meal that day. After all, isn't 'Thanksgiving dinner' all about the "thanksgiving", not necessarily the "dinner".
Enjoy the day. |

Been to the Homestead many times and it’s nothing like Hart’s. Matter of fact, that’s where my family is dining on Thursday! Got the last reservation for Thanksgiving dinner...I enjoy cooking but it’s so much work and when everyone is seated it’s over in a short time...then the cleanup! I will have a couple of racks of St Louis style ribs slow cooking while we’re out for nibbling later in the day... |
Ron Popeil is cooking Dinner this Thanksgiving
My wife and I were thinking of what to serve for Thanksgiving? Turkey as usual?
Well I thought? How about something different? How about a nice big PRIMERIB? So we ordered a 9 pound Rib Roast from EM Heath. You say how are you going to cook it. Do you remember the days when everyone had a Ron Popeil Rotisserie Oven? It really did not matter how the Roast came out, it was that delicious smell throughout the entire house. Cheryl went down to the cellar and found it this morning. We took it upstairs and I immediately plug it in, it still works! We just need to clean it and we will be read to cook Thursday. I can taste it already. :liplick::liplick::liplick::liplick::liplick: |

Get it medium rare... trust me, it will still smell good! |
Nothing beats having it a home with family and friends cooked by Mom, but this was our substitute for a few years when my mom still wanted to have it up the
lake after my dad passed away and was no longer able to do it herself. http://steelehillresorts.com/new-ham.../thanksgiving/ I don't want to say if it was good or bad, but for us at the time it was the best alternative solution that made mom feel good about not being able to do it on her own. Not to mention we were all together at the lake for the day even without dad, and that was a good thing in-itself. |
My wife will cook a turkey and then we will be bringing it down to American Legion Post 72 in Alton. Meals on wheels will deliver meals to many folks in town that need the meals delivered. Then she and I will spend the early hours of the afternoon joining others helping to serve dinner to those who come into the Legion. No cost for the dinners, but donations are always gratefully accepted.
We have cooked, or helped cook, Thanksgiving dinners for decades, with family. Our kids have their own families and trying to coordinate meal time can get difficult. Now they do their family dinner, and we count our blessings and help serve those who may not be as fortunate as we are. For us, it makes for a really nice Thanksgiving. Best wishes to all for a great Thanksgiving. Sent from my SM-T580 using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app |

Homestead vs. Harts...
I've never been a Harts fan. The turkey plate is better than George's Diner, but nothing really special. Cranberry sauce tastes out of a can. I know nothing of The Homestead..On Rt. 104? Where abouts?

thanksgiving dinner
Guess i'm from the other side. I've been going to Hart's for at least 30 years, and I can count on one hand how many times my dinner wasn't just like I had at home on Thanksgiving in my younger years. Yes it costs more (what doesn't) but the quality to me is there. I'm sure there are people who won't agree , I still look forward to going. As they say "just sayin "
