Cedar Cove

Where is Cedar Cove in Alton? A buddy of mine is looking at property there. he ask me where it is and I can't find it on the map.

Northeast of Plum Island

Cedar Cove is east of light #74 and northeast of Plum Island. It is a no-rafting area.

Thanks

I didn't think there would be a cove inside a cove! I thought that whole inlet is Robert's Cove.

Wasn't always Cedar Cove

Didn't used to be called "Cedar Cove". When I was a kid, I went to Camp DeWitt which was located there...don't think the little cove had a name back then. It is, however, where I learned to sail and canoe. Sigh.

Named with Association

The cove got the name when the association was developed. The beach there is for "Ceder Cove Association Members Only".

When there is only one of something in our experience we don't need a name, it's just "the cove".

The earth has only one moon and one sun, so we forget their names and just call them the moon and the sun. Some people can't tell you their names although they have hear them many times.

Cedar Cove as defined by the State of New Hampshire....

Just to amplify the correct answer given by Bizer....

From the New Hampshire Code of Administrative Rules.....

Saf-C 407.03 Prohibited Areas...

(a) Rafting as defined in RSA 270:42, V, shall be prohibited in the following areas of Lake Winnipesaukee unless covered by one of the exceptions specified in RSA 270:45:

(6) The area known as Cedar Cove, specifically identified as the area opposite Plum Island which borders the town of Alton tax map 18, lot numbers 12 through 20 and 55;...

A Google using "cedar cove winnipesaukee" will also return a number of pages listing property sales in the Cedar cove area....

Our sun and moon don't have any names in English. Sol and Luna are often used but they are the Latin terms.

The 10th planet doesn't have a name in any language.
