Eversource Power Maint 2/23 9-2pm Welch /Gilford area * completed
 

Just got a call from Eversource that they are doing power maintenance today 9-2pm. I am on Welch so not sure of the radius but thought id give a heads up to folks

Update 2pm 2/23 - Maintenance completed

Yeah, They might be working on an outage our place. My cameras have been offline for around 3 weeks so I opened a service call on Thursday (Feb 21). I bet they need to cut power to the end of the West side power lines. Last October (while we were closing) a big branch came down and ripped our cable off the transformer. It was repaired but maybe it failed again.

Hopefully that brings your power back! We have had many branches pull wires down also. It was great to get a call ahead of time also.

Thanks for the info. We don't run anything in the winter, so we appreciate the news. What are they doing that involves the phrase "blast radius".

I received a text that it is back on as of 12:10 pm today.

We walked out to Welch today and talked to Eversource at Glendale. They had a tracked vehicle getting ready to take a combined crew of linemen and tree guys out to Welch. I said that I had received the phone call of a pending outage. There was a very tall tree part way down leaning just above the power lines behind #56 Welch. I said that I had the makings of coffee in my pack and would see what happened.

When we got to Welch they had just got there and had to make another trip in for gear and the tree guys. The crew chief said that we would have time to make the coffee. Just as the coffee finished brewing he came to the door to make sure we were all set prior to pulling the power. Rather considerate I would say.

While there they walked the north branch to see if there were any other problems, don't know if they also walked the south branch.

So the Eversource guys checked our place and found the power was ok but the phone line is down. I was glad they found trees that needed trimming so it wasn't a wasted trip. I'll call CC tomorrow but I don't think they make Island service calls in the winter.
